This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

Any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion, though only stewards may use {{yes}} or {{no}} templates.

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review Global rollback
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
===Global rollback for [[user:Foo|Foo]]===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = Username
}}

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a short period of consideration (typically 5 days). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Global rollback for Jackie

Latest about 2 months I have been watching small wiki and as possible, revert spam links, vandalism and incorrect edits or mark pages for speedy deletion. For more effectively cross-wiki work I need this flag. Some examples such my latest edits: 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. My current flags are represented on the user page. Global sysop for Tiptoety

  • Hello, I am Tiptoety. Currently our Stewards are overworked, and often I come to find that there are none online when they are most needed. I would like to help to resolve this issue by throwing in my hat for global sysop. I currently serve as an administrator at the English Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Meta (as well as a couple of simple projects). I also serve as a CheckUser at Commons. Being that I currently have global rollback, I am a participant in the small wiki monitoring team and have performed a number of vandalism reverts on a multitude of projects. I understand that global sysop is simply a tool, and does not give the holder of said permission the right to enact community consensus, override the decisions of local community members and/or sysops, or involve him/herself in editorial disputes. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 04:51, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

← Oh dear. I guess I could see how my comment could easily be construed as a pompous reply to failing an RfA. That was not my intention at all. ;-) Instead it was more of a "I was offering to help perform non-controversial tasks such as deleting attack pages, and blocking vandals. But with the possible implementation of global sysops coming up this RfA may be a bit pointless." I will agree though that being a local administrator is far different than that of a global sysop. Like I stated in my nomination statement, global sysops are simply a group of trusted users who have a few special technical abilities to stop imminent threats to smaller projects. I do not plan on using the tools for anything other than that. Hope that clears things up. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 22:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Jamesofur

  • Hello, I am Jamesofur (James Alexander). I know that the creation of this group was slightly controversial but I honestly feel that it will be a big help for the small wikis. As Tiptoety said above and we have said many times the Stewards are over worked. No where is this more true then with xwiki vandalism, abuse and spam. I hold Global Rollback permissions as well as Checkuser on Simple Wiki and sysop both on Simple and here on Meta. I am constantly on IRC and available for emergences even when working on other projects. I think that with the small number of stewards that were selected this year (and the large amount of stewards that have left us over the past year) the xwiki work will be even more stressed and I would like to help out with that as much as I possibly can. Even more so then Global Rollback (which is not a tool without its share of problems on small wikis) Global Sysops need to be very careful to make sure they do not interfere with the local community, in the end the local community wins REGARDLESS of what I think in the matter personally and I intend to live by that through out my time there and to totally remove myself from any kind of content dispute. As always please please feel free to ask questions if you have one, I will be happy to answer.James (T C) 05:08, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Seb az86556

Yes -- what am *I* doing here? Given my opposition to the whole idea during the vote, it should be crystal clear that I am aware of the dangers, implications, and possibility for abuse that these tools include. That's exactly what makes me a perfect candidate for this job - I know how I would feel if some outsider messed with nv.wiki, and I will be wary to consider this each and every time. In addition, I intend to use these exclusively on Native American wikis which I patrol on a daily basis. Furthermore, I will voluntarily surrender these tools upon the first complaint received. That's for the record. Seb az86556 05:24, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Indeed weird. I see your point. I think its better to get admin flag on those wikis you monitor. On the other hand I think local admin at a wiki means much more than being a global one, operating in the same wiki, especially in a small wiki. Global admin is for trivial maintenance (such trivial that you don't even need to understand the language). I tend to Support Support per you being aware of "dangers, implications, and possibility for abuse" and "will voluntarily surrender these tools upon the first complaint received". --Egmontaℨ 13:22, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I tend to agree with Egmontaz. Wouldn't it be better to get admin on the wikis where you plan to carry out administrative tasks? I think that'll be better than getting GS which means getting admin on over 50 wikis. If you are going to edit only on 2-3 wikis, why do you need this flag? Cheers, Pmlineditor  13:26, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Question is: Wouldn't that look even weirder? Seriously - I pop up on Admin-requests and say Cheyenne, Inupak, Inuktitut, Cherokee, Aymara, Guarani -- that's 6, and yes, all of'em, please (I already have the flag for Navajo, by the way...). Ah well, just trying to help... Seb az86556 13:46, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
      • Getting temp admin on 6 wikis isn't too difficult. Sorry, but while I appreciate your work, I can't support this and will be neutral. If you work actively for some more time, that's a support from me. Pmlineditor  07:08, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose - Lack of SWMT work. Would advise that you ask for temp adminship on the projects that you actually intend to use the tools on. NW (Talk) 18:41, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Support In general you don't go with what I think the main requirements (Global Rollback for experience etc) should be but you have proven yourself and for what you request... I'm ok with. I trust you and think you could do a lot of good for those wikis and while yes you could ask for it on all of them there are enough that I think this is a valid request (1,2,3 for example is not at all). I do kind of hope this doesn't bite me in the behind and cause people to point at precedence but /me shrugs you have to do what you think is right regardless of what others think. James (T C) 07:13, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - Imo normally both previous sysop and SWMT experience are essential for a succesful RfGS, but in this case that does not apply. • While it'd be "better" to request and receive local rights, Seb az86556 has already declared restrictions on his use of the tools and has a specific goal and limited scope. I see no reason to not Support Support this candidate. Best of luck! Kylu 12:54, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Innv

Hi friends! I'm active user in many WMF wikis, active member of SWMT, worker in small slavic-wikis (info), global rollbacker. My main work - fighting with cross-wiki spam and vandalism. I have big sysop expirence in different projects (currently I'm admin on Meta, Ru-wikisource, StrategyWiki, etc).

Global sysop need for me because:

  • I plan cleanup small wikis (remove test pages, vandalism, spam, etc);
  • I will block the vandals and other abusers in small wiki;
  • I can make help for local communities of small wikis with abusefilter and mediawiki edits (optionally, if needed).

Else I want to help the stewards in their hard work (associated with the GS rights).

Thank you for your consideration. Regards, —Innv {ru-ws} 05:27, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Oohhhh, okay, that's what you meant. No objections, then. Seb az86556 11:21, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Pmlineditor

Hi, I am Pmlineditor. I am an active member of SWMT and I often revert crosswiki vandalism and tag pages for deletion. I have been a global rollbacker for nearly 5 months now and I'm an admin on Meta, Simple Wikipedia, Simple Wiktionary and a probationary custodian on English Wikiversity. I think I can help out with GS as I am quite active in SW patrol; often tagging vandalism pages for deletion and asking stewards to block users. As a global sysop, I can do these tasks myself provided there is no other local admin around. I will always try not to offend/disturb the local community and will never handle deletions/blocking where community decision is necessary and will not override local discussions or perform any controversial and unacceptable tasks. It is often seen that there are too few stewards to handle massive cw vandalism and I think that I can help with this. My timezone is UTC+5:30, which is probably different from most others. Additionally, I am bn-N, hi-3, hif-2 which should also help. Thank you for your consideration. Cheers, Pmlineditor  06:43, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Prince Kassad

Hello. I am Prince Kassad and I help to keep the wiki clean, tagging pages for deletion on small wikis to let other sysops know this page needs to be deleted. However, there are those wikis which are very dormant: they get little to no activity, their sysops, if any, left the project years ago and they're real breeding grounds for vandalism. We're way understaffed at the moment to deal with this problem, and I believe I could help in cleaning up the vandalism. Global sysop is, of course, not a sign of power, it is not at all meant to override or subdue the local community; its sole purpose is helping in deleting obvious vandalism pages (gibberish, attack pages, etc.) and blocking IPs and users who destroy good content with their vandalism. I am a sysop on enwiktionary so I already know my way around with the sysop tools, and I've asked for temporary sysop several times before to clean up the large backlog of pages for deletion. -- Prince Kassad 06:56, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for VasilievVV

Hello, I'm Victor Vasiliev. I am sysop on several Wikimedia projects. I sometimes monitor edits on small wikis (I haven't been active recently due to real-life issues) and I frequently miss an ability to block a vandal or protect a page on spot. Therefore I believe that global sysop tools would be useful for me. vvvt 09:29, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Juliancolton

Hi all, figured I'll throw my hat into the ring as well. I supported the global sysops proposal from the start as I believe it's a genuinely good idea, but I can understand the objections to it and think we should strive to relieve them. Anyhow, I'm a modestly active spam fighter on small wikis, I've had global rollback for about seven months, and I'm an admin on enwiki, meta, commons, simple, and a few other projects here and there. –Juliancolton | Talk 15:36, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My home wiki is the french Wikipedia, but I'm active on small wikis, where I do frequent patrols. I've been temporary sysop on corsican Wikibooks (rights log) and aceh Wikipedia (rights log). I'm also bureaucrat and sysop on wu Wikipedia. So I have experience on small wiki administration. I had requested the global roolback flag few times ago, but it was refused because most of my patrols consist in tagging pages for deletion, not to revert crosswiki vandalism. So I think that global sysop is the flag that suite to my SWMT activity.

I will also soon become sysop on french Wikipedia. I'm also sysop on french Wikipedia.

Regards

Updated :o) --Hercule 23:58, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I founded many of my ser pages completly destructed by a bot, whereas I never asked him to update my interwikis. The fact that a user decide to touch many of my user page without my authorization is not acceptable for me (It is a personnal decision to just post a link to my home wiki on non Wikipedia projets). The fact that the mistake was not corrected before I asked it is a second bad point. For this reason I said it is vandalism when I discovered it. But I don't consider that the user that make this is a vandal, and I never asked any sanctions for that (and will not request any^^). --Hercule 17:28, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • actually i tend to oppose here , it is not matter of trust, i trust, you but with little experience on adminship i really think you should get more experience before beging global sysop --Mardetanha talk 09:00, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sysop since more than 19 months. Global sysop work is more similar to my adminship experience on wu Wikipedia that the one I will have on french Wikipedia. I think. --Hercule 17:28, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Luckas Blade

Hi. I'm a global rollbacker, bureaucrat on ptwikisource and former sysop on other wikis, still have a global bot. I haven't been too active lately, but can help a lot as a global sysop; and think that my global experience is sufficient (just see my SUL page). --Lucas Nunes 01:04, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for Amdf

Hi. I am amdf, my home wiki is Russian. I'm active in ru-wiki and in some small wikis in languages of Russia, such as Erzya Wikipedia (myv:), Meadow Mari Wikipedia mhr: and others. I was a temporary sysop of mhr-wiki (august-november 2009), in that time there were no local admins there. I was a test administrator of Erzya Wikipedia in incubator, before it was opened, and now I am a test administrator of Hill Mari Wikipedia, see incubator:Incubator:Test-administrators. I want a global sysop account to help small wikipedias in languages of Russia. амдф 09:31, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

btw as Derhexer suggest best idea for you is temp-)sysopship --Mardetanha talk 15:07, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for putnik

Hi, I'm putnik, my home wiki is Russian Wikipedia where I'm a sysop and checkuser. I'm active on Commons where I'm sysop, and semi active on Russian Wikinews where I am sysop too. I well know wikicode, HTML, CSS and Javascript. I plan to help some wikis with tools and remove spam/test pages. — putnik 12:42, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment Generally, we're going to be looking for people already active in SWMT, who do the bulk-revert work and could be stretched just a little farther by simply doing more of what they're already doing. I don't think we should waste your talents on such rote work. Kylu 17:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral Neutral - You seem to be doing excellent work, and considering your multiple positions of trust on Commons and ruwiki, I think you're sufficiently trustworthy. However as Kylu said, global sysop is just as much about need and activity as it is trust. While you have plenty of contributions across many projects, I don't see a lot of reverting and spam fighting. A neutral for now; I'll revisit soon though. Global sysop for NuclearWarfare

Hi all, I am NuclearWarfare. I had said earlier that I wasn't planning on running for global sysop (even though I was the one that authored the proposal[1]). However, I am planning on getting involved with SWMT again, and I figure that the global sysop flag would be helpful. In addition to being a sysop on enwiki, commonswiki, and metawiki, I have been a global rollbacker since last June, and I have made just about fifteen hundred antivandalism edits since becoming active with SWMT.

I do wish to acknowledge that about a year ago, when I was relatively new to SWMT, I made some serious mistakes with the use of a temporary admin flag that I received for uncontroversial maintenance. The maintenance turned out to be not so uncontroversial, and I really should not have done it in the first place. This incident is the one that Mike.lifeguard alludes to in his comment at my request for global rollback (linked above). As such, I promise to only use these tools to combat blatant vandalism, or when specifically requested to by local administrators.

Please feel free ask me any questions you have; I will be glad to answer them. Cheers, NW (Talk) 05:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for JAn Dudík

Hello, I want to ask for global sysops rights. I am sysop and bureaucrate of cs.wikipedia. My international domain is mainly interwiki linking with JAnDbot. During this work I sometimes found vandalised page in some small project, but there are some locked pages with incorrect interwiki (links to irrelevant artcles or bad redirects). So I would use mainly editprotected, sometimes rollback or delete (mainteance or sure vandalism) and only in rare cases blocking. JAn Dudík 12:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose Sorry just not sure this is the right position for you at least at the moment :/ I would have no problem with global rollback (which would give you rollback as well as the ability to at least do semi-protected pages but we've made it very clear to people that this position is anti-vandalism only and I'm just not sure your activity in that area is enough despite your great work. Sorry :( James (T C) 18:38, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose per Jamesofur. Maybe the global editinterface right (see one section below) would fit better to what you want to do. --MF-W 17:03, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a short period of consideration (typically 5 days). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.
