I don't know why, but I have the bot flag on urwiki. It probably shouldn't be there so if a steward can remove it that would be great. Regards, MacMed (talk) 17:34, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Requests and proposals Steward requests (<translate>

Permissions</translate>)

latest archive
<translate>

This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived by a bot>User:SteinsplitterBot</>|bot. Click here for a list of archives.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at srb>SRB</>|SRB, and requests for globalg>Special:MyLanguage/Global groups</>|global permissions are handled at srgp>SRGP</>|SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (irp>WM:IRP#On other wikis</>|index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the <tvar
Cross-wiki requests
Meta-Wiki requests

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below: </translate>

User name@xxproject
<translate><!--T:15-->
(your remarks)</translate> ~~~~

<translate> 2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser").

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of identity

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally nonpublic-data>wmf:Access to nonpublic data policy</>|require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also stew-handbook>Steward handbook/email templates</>|submit the relevant identification to the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been idn>Identification noticeboard</>|formally confirmed by the Office. </translate>

Administrator access

Steward requests/Permissions/Sysop-header

Olsi@sqwikinews

Hello! I request to become administrator at Albaninan Wikinews because there are no local admins and I am an active user there. --Olsi 17:00, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Time2wait.svg On hold until 3.7.2011 Matanya 17:05, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Only two of the six respondents meet the local project's requirements of >50 edits, so permanent adminiship should not be applied. However, as there was unanimity in the respondents and a lack of administrators on the project, I think that temporary adminship of six months duration, expiring January 3, 2012, is appropriate, subject to becoming permanent if and when Olsi has a successful local RfA. -- Avi 09:14, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. --Olsi 02:11, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Reder@kywiktionary

Hi, I would become temporary administrator of kyrgyz wiktionary (six months if it is possible) because now here is since a long time that there are no users who contributing regularly, and furthermore there are no admins, the contrary there is much work and a lot of cleaning to do. There are pages to be deleted, others to move, and the first page has need to be reorganized, etc. ... Then we need someone to give a bit look at this wiktionary to prevent that is abandoned at herself and at the vandals. --Reder 11:22, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

CheckUser access

Oversight access

To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or email oversight-l-at-lists.wikimedia.org for requests regarding English Wikipedia. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.

Stewards
Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.

Removal of access

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see self-discussion>Talk:Steward_requests/Permissions/2011#Self_requests</>|previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted user from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a crat-rem>Bureaucrat#Removing_access</>|separate list of these specific wikis.
 • See the usage>#Using this page</>|instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

Mass removal of Admin rights on En.Wikipedia

Status:    Done

en:Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/suspend sysop rights of inactive admins passed with an overwhelming consensus and is now part of Admin policy. The procedural removal of Admin rights needs to be preformed on some 200 inactive Admins. Cheers The Resident Anthropologist (talk)•(contribs) 17:47, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I'm not sure the desysoppings are supposed to take place yet...looking at the new policy as of this version, the accounts are supposed to be notified a month in advance before they are desysopped, and again a couple of days before. The new policy was only implemented in the last few days, and to my knowledge the accounts haven't been notfied yet. Of course, I may have missed something. Acalamari 18:16, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Matanya said on IRC that it's too late, because he's nearly done. However, he's stopped removing flags now, for what it's worth. — Waterfox ~talk~ 18:35, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Matanya just said on IRC that it would be stupid to not finish those few left. He said that if anybody complains, stewards or local bureaucrats will grant the rights back. So, all done now. — Waterfox ~talk~ 18:41, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
The request was definitely premature per the process that was approved, but the harm is negligible since the policy permits a returning user to request restoration of their rights with little difficulty. At least so far no one seems to be overly upset, although who knows what will happen once word spreads. But either way what's done is done, and any fixing can be handled by the local bureaucrats on en-wiki. --RL0919 20:20, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Shell_Kinney@en.wp and commons

Since I am leaving Wikimedia projects, it would be best to remove all elevated rights from my account. This would be administrator, oversight and checkuser at en and administrator at commons. Thank you for your assistance. --Shell Kinney 13:37, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for your work.
