Scholarships[edit]

With the assistance of Wikimedia Foundation and CIS-A2K, we have arranged 30 Scholarships to non-Bengali Wikipedian delegates and 15 Bangladeshi Wikipedians. Conditions to get scholarships are given below:

  • For Bengali Wikipedian, you must submit you application here .
  • For English wikipedian Indian resident, you should show your community support/announcement from here.
  • The scholarship includes dormitory or shared accommodation for two days with moderate facilities, food and refreshments. In addition, they will be entitled to reimburse the charges for a round trip train ticket for second class non-air conditioned sleeper from the city of the applicant.If the scholarship Grantee wish to come at Kolkata in different mode ( i.e By Air, AC Class, Own car etc), they can. But Organizer will reimburse only Rs 3000/- maximum.[1][2]
  • Maximum number of scholarships are 30. The apply for scholarship will be closed on 10th December 2014.
  • You must be an active Wikipedian and should announce at Village Pump at your home Wikipedia.
  • The acceptance of registration will be the method of first come first serve basis.
  • Maximum participants from one community will be 5 users. (these numbers may vary slightly)

We have booked the Jadavpur University Guest House for accommodation for the scholarship grantees from 8th January 2015 ( check-in Time 10:00 AM ) to 11th January 2015 ( check-out 10:00 AM )

Request from Sibi: Since the travelling time from down south would be high , I request to be considered for air fare reimbursement .
Answer: As per the grant application to WMF, organizer can reimburse only Rs 3000/- maximum.

Comment: Ideally the travel time from Chennai is 28 hours (1 full day travel + 1 night Travel) , then the return is another 28 hours . For 2 days of wiki celebrations , 4 days of travel would be kind of harsh on my schedule . Moreover from Tamil Wiki village pump there has been a proposal to ask for Air fare if its possible as I am the only Language representative from Tamil Community . Speaker scholarship for student[edit]

  • There are limited number of scholarship available to Speakers for students.
  • The scholarship includes dormitory or shared accommodation for two days with moderate facilities, food and refreshments. In addition, they will be entitled to reimburse the charges for a round trip train ticket for second class non-air conditioned sleeper from the city of the applicant. Organizer will reimburse up to Rs 3000/- maximum.
  • All registered Students speaker must produce their valid Student Photo ID cards or consent letters from their institutional Heads at the Conference registration desk. Any failure of this will draw additional charges and will not entertain any reimbursement.
  • They must apply for scholarship after registration as "speaker registration" with the ticket number and fill this form
  • We will notify you before 25th December 2014.
