Wikibooks Logo Proposal D Version 10d.4af by Willscrlt (Talk). This is a special version designed for use at very small sizes, such as a 16x16px favicon. It is not intended to stand alone as a full-sized logo.

Version 10d.4af incorporates a book with a blue cover and golden pages. The book is laid open, with the pages fanned out slightly. Hovering slightly above the book is a stylized globe showing generic continent and ocean shapes (to represent any portion of the Earth rather than a specific region); the globe uses a gradient for a realistic curved effect. The full version also incorporates the "WIKIBOOKS" wordmark as an integrated element below the book. Below the wordmark is room for the localized name of each project (e.g., "in English"). In the proposal, the wordmark uses the DejaVu Sans Bold font and the localized name uses the Georgia font (both freely available), and all text has been converted to paths for portability. The wordmark and localized name are omitted from the small "favicon" version for clarity at small sizes. This favicon is for use with D10d.4a.

There were no prior versions of this favicon. Previously D10a.3f had been used as a favicon, even though it did not contain a globe.

This proposal is the culmination of efforts of several people and the suggestions of many others. Key among the contributors are:

• Risk for the color scheme in Image:Wikibooks logoproposal.Risk.BlueOrange4.svg
• Willscrlt for the combination of those two ideas and Image:Wikibooks D10d.svg
• OnkelDagobert for globe and page shape changes in Image:Wikibooks D10d edit2.svg
• Willscrlt for further refinements, including vector path smoothing and simplification, conversion to standard web-safe colors, and overall file size reductions.

Wikibooks logo proposals

Voting on the Wikibooks Logo proposals has ended. These logos were created as proposals for a new Wikibooks logo; however, none of these logos were selected. The final selection was one that had received very little interest until I revived it and featured it, giving it more exposure. I'm happy that I directly influenced the new logo, even if none of my own logo submissions were chosen. :-)
