Project idea[edit]

The Bashkir language (Башҡорт теле, Başqort tele) is a Turkic language, and is the language of the Bashkirs. It is co-official with Russian in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Speakers of the Bashkir language mostly live in the Russia, Republic of Bashkortostan. Many speakers also live in Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Sverdlovsk, Samara and Kurgan Oblasts, Khanty–Mansia, Tatarstan, and Udmurtia. 1.6 million of two million Bashkirs live in Russia. Others live outside Russia. They may not know Russian. Especially the younger generation. 44,114 children of Bashkortostan enrolled in the Bashkir schools. 80,222 children of Bashkortostan studying in Russian schools, but studying the Bashkir language as their mother tongue[1]. The number of native speakers decreased – 1.45 million (2002), 1,22 million (2010). The use of the Bashkir language is limited[2]. In 2009, the Bashkir language was included UNESCO Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger[3].

Wikipedia entry in the Bashkir language developed since 2005. It contains about 30,000 articles. In 2012, the number of active editors Bashkir Wikipedia has grown from 44 in January to 69 in December. Quick poll conducted by novices personal correspondence and learned what difficulties they experience when editing articles. All participants complained about the lack of online dictionaries and reference information the Bashkir language. Spending a lot of time to search for text in the Bashkir language. Number of texts on the Internet in the Bashkir language limited.

The main goal - to attract more public attention to the wiki projects in the Bashkir language. Attract more participants with knowledge of the Bashkir language wiki projects. Organization scan directories and encyclopedias in the Bashkir language for convenience in editing Wikipedia articles. To provide the information in the Bashkir language ordinary readers and Wikipedia editors.

  • 1.The organization works to search, scan, upload online tutorials, guides, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries the Bashkir language.
    • 1.1.Make electronic bibliography of books and texts in the public domain in the Bashkir language. No fewer than 500 titles. Period - May 2013.
    • 1.2.Organize scan books in the Bashkir language in PDF format and place them online. Organization scan directories and encyclopedias in the Bashkir language for convenience in editing Wikipedia articles. No fewer than 100 titles. June - September 2013.
    • 1.3.Organize and monitor the progress of the work - May - September 2013.
  • 2.Organize a meeting with the authors books in the Bashkir language. Deadline - August-September 2013.
    • 2.1.Presentation Wikipedia, Wikisource in the Bashkir language. Deadline - September 2013.
    • 2.2.Lecture on Сreative Commons licenses. Deadline - September 2013.
    • 2.3.Organization of individual meetings and negotiations with the authors of books in the Bashkir language. Term - May - September 2013.

    • 1.1.Make electronic bibliography of books and texts in the public domain in the Bashkir language. No fewer than 500 titles. – 30 rubles x 1 description x 500 books = 15000 rubles / 500 USD.
    • 1.2.Job creation: Laptop - 10000 rubles, scanner - 3000 rubles, internet access for two months - 600 rubles. 13,600 x 5 = 68,000 rubles / 2267 USD
    • 1.3.Remuneration students.
      • 1.3.1.Scan books and save to PDF format - 10 rubles for one exposure of A4. At least 100 books х 200 expositions х 10 rubles for the exposure x 1.15 district coefficient = 230,000 rubles / 7667 USD.
      • 1.3.2.Deductions from the salary fund of 20% - 230 000 x 20% = 46 000 rubles / 1534 USD.
  • 2.
    • 2.1.Organize a meeting with the authors books in the Bashkir language.
      • 2.1.1.Booklets, gift items with the logo of Wikipedia and Wikisource - 30 authors x 500 rubles = 15,000 rubles / 500 USD.
      • 2.1.2.Coffee break for guests - 30 authors x 500 rubles = 15000 rubles / 500 USD.
    • 2.2. Individual meetings with the authors of the books in the Bashkir language and negotiating (at least 10 authors).
      • 2.2.1.Costs for travel and gifts - 10 x 2000 rubles = 20000 rubles / 667 USD.
  • 3.Organizational expenses (Project Management), not more than 10% of the total.
    • 3.1.Total costs $ 13,635 x 10% = / 1364 USD

All population owning Bashkir language. For beginners to learn the Bashkir language. For editors and contributors wiki projects. To attract the attention of new people.

Fit with strategy[edit]

Heightening the knowledge base in the Bashkir language. Free use of of texts for different purposes. Beginning of the creation databases parallel texts for computing translator. Attract public attention to the wiki projects.

Sustainability[edit]

The project is needed as a catalyst for other wiki projects: Wikiquote, Wiktionary, Wikinews in the Bashkir language. Possible extension of the project to the volunteer movement.

  • Increase in the number of active participants Wikipedia, Wikisource and other wiki projects.
  • An increase in the of texts in the Bashkir language wiki projects.
  • An increase in the Bashkir language of texts on the Internet.
