In real life, I'am a PhD candidate in Chinese teaching and e-learning. I designed the WikiAtlas project on the basis of my long and structuring involvement within several Wikipedia:Map_Worshops, associated graphic guidelines, and cartographic work. Thanks to the skills collected there, I'am also a part-time freelance cartographer, were I noticed the needs for well coded SVGs allowing interactive maps. Both experiences and my strong attachment for the Wikipedia Map workshops encouraged me to conceive the WikiAtlas project, and apply to the fall 2013 IEG selection with a frugal yet powerful project. Arun & myself will fight hard to consolidate existing practices, and push for a more systematic production of GIS maps for Wikipedia. While the IEG founding is helpful, the task stays huge, and your support will be appreciate. Yug (talk) 16:15, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
