Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

Few girls in the Ghanaian society are passionate about technology. I am ready to make that change.

What is your solution?[edit]

Educate,Train and Direct young Ghanaian ladies by going to their schools and also having one-on-one sessions with them so that they would not be under represented

Goals[edit]

Girls should be creative and innovative

Get Involved[edit]

In every project team work is very key and important,so I have a couple of people I would love to work with in order to make a change in the Ghanaian society and probably Africa and beyond.

Participants[edit]

Myraclera, Andrews Lartey

Endorsements[edit]

  • Because its going to help Ghanaian young girls to be technically good Jwale2 (talk) 12:43, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
  • Love the idea! 179.53.59.17 23:54, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
  • The initiative to get girls into tech in our part of the world matters a lot to the development of tech and industry in our country. It is a great worry that girls are not ready to pursue careers or higher education in tech. If this initiative is to be carried out, it would solve a lot of our problems in tech, business and industry. Andrews Lartey (talk) 16:53, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Project plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

This project would involve the going to various Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools. The key focus would be on the senior high school girls, because I believe after they are done with their senior high education they are either going straight to the university or do other professional programs. This program should last for a year.

Our main focus for Girls Go Tech is to ensure that girls in various Ghanaian schools have been taught hands on,on how to use wiki tools to make edits and also try to involve them in other tech activity for them to make a difference.

Budget[edit]

  • Six Laptops for the project, this is for schools who are under-privileged (I have no idea of the price but one which would be good for the project)
  • Transport- 300 USD
  • Accomodation- 1000
  • Food-500

NB:The figures above are rough figures I put down. I would appreciate if a sponsor could help in calculating to make out a good cost analysis.

Community engagement[edit]

Concerning community participation,my team and I have decided to create a community which would run on popular social media platforms in order for us to get them engaged. Some of these social media platforms are Facebook, twitter,Google plus and whatsapp..

The reason why I am using all these means to create the community engagement is that I would like students to feel at ease to communicate with us in the sense of familiarity with the platforms. This is because some of the girls may have much more knowledge in one social media tools than the others. When we blend all, everybody would surely communicate and give and receive quick feedback.

However, after each event we organize in each school we ensure that each student fills an online feedback form that would be shared with our sponsors to see how we are performing.

Sustainability[edit]

After the grants end, I am expecting that I continue to pursue my project alongside other tech projects to ensure that my country Ghana becomes one tech incline hub in the world.

Measures of success[edit]

I would know through the impact on the community that am going to run.The young girls who would make a change in their schools would also be known and appreciated.
