Project scope[edit]

There are ten museums in nature, sixty village landmark reservations and a lot of other village protected areas or pieces of separately standing vernacular architectural landmarks in the Czech Republic. From these, only a fragment is documented by the projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Project goal[edit]

The aim of this project is the detail documentation of the wide range of vernacular architecture of the Czech Republic. Grant money will be especially used to cover transportation and entrance fees. Other expenses will cover accommodation in the appropriate place. This will make possible to make a further documentation of the appropriate village or monument for the first time. The other aim of this project is to get vocational texts for these images (i.e. text, which can be used to create new encyclopaedic inquiry on Wikipedia or at least a description of the image). To fulfil this aim, the lead of the grant (or other volunteers) will cooperate with the specialists on the correction of the text and their completion.

Non-financial requirements[edit]

The approval of GPS navigation and Video camera would help the creation of accompanying documentation to images.

Fit to strategy[edit]

In the means of this project, a lot of quality images of vernacular architecture will be taken. These images can be used on Czech, but also English and any other Wikipedia's articles focusing topics of vernacular architecture or agricultural and other manufacturing tools.

Other benefits[edit]

Other benefits stays in photographic documentation of things that could disappear within 5 or 10 years. The advantage of taking pictures on places which are charged by entrance fee is another step to break the fear and averseness of public institutions towards Wikipedia. These institutions take care of the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic - pieces of culture heritage, that are publicly available for people, usually under Public Domain, but still fail in Wikipedia.

Measures of success[edit]

This project will be measured successful if 450 detailed pictures of alone standing buildings and 20 urban units will be taken.
