Grants talk:APG/Proposals/2013-2014 round1/Wikimedia CH/Progress report form/Q1

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Missed point[edit]

About the community support there is a small update which is missed about like minded organizations:

  • International Society for Alpine History (ISAH): Wikimedia CH is continuing the collaboration with this international association and is starting to plan other joint projects in the same fields with small GLAM partners around Alps.

Anyway more detailed report will be done for Q2.

Comments from FDC staff[edit]

Dear Wikimedia CH Colleagues:

Thank you for submitting this complete report on time. It was great to learn about all of the activity happening during Q1. We also appreciate your clear reporting on your targets for each program and also appreciate that WMCH is sharing and reflecting on its challenges and setbacks. We also appreciate the photos in the report! They bring your work to life. It was also nice to see the contributions some of your community members. We especially enjoyed the photo of the Cathédrale de Lausanne.

  • Thank you for explaining the changes you have made to your annual plan, including in the budget; it’s helpful to understand what areas WMCH will be focusing on in the next year.
  • We appreciate your work to pilot programs before scaling them; please keep us updated on the pilots in education and the thematic program (the Alps).
  • It’s great to learn about your success in your annual meeting, with more attendees than ever before, especially from the German-speaking community.
  • We’re eager to see the impact of the training for Wikimedians on engaging in the press.
  • Your work with the Swiss Foundation Public Domain in digitizing music records is interesting since WMCH is one of few movement organizations focusing on this. We are interested to learn more about the approach you intend to take in how you digitize the music. Keep us posted!
  • We are interested to learn about the work the Wikipedians in Residence are conducting with the Swiss National Library, and especially how the WIR and the SNL make the decisions about which collections to digitize. It’s good to learn that the WIR are aiming to create an approach that allows the National Library to upload content themselves without the help of the WIRs. Also, as a note, we noticed that the category you shared (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Category:Media_contributed_by_the_Swiss_National_Library) doesn’t seem to have anything in it yet.
  • The “Swiss Glammies” project -- where you share an image and a short story about Swiss heritage -- to curate Swiss content on WM projects is an interesting one! We’ll be keen to learn how successful this approach is.
  • It’s nice to read about your learning on the prisoners project; instead of approaching each prison directly as you did in the pilot, you’re now working through the parent institution. It’s impressive that all 17 prisons in German-speaking Switzerland have access to Wikipedia offline! If this learning about working through a parent institution would benefit the wider movement, we encourage you to create a learning pattern.
  • We’re pleased to learn that in spite of your setbacks in securing sponsorships for the Hackathon, you’re taking your learning from the experience and applying it to your fundraising strategy. Onward and upward! We encourage you to create a learning pattern about this if you think others in the movement could benefit from your experience.
  • It’s interesting to read about the experiences with the unique SUL account for the Swiss National Library. We’ve been following this issue and would suggest you consider writing a blog post about it.
  • Thank you for sharing that you “have implemented a new reporting system that should help us to better track the events in term of attendance, organizer, and feedback.” If you think others could benefit, please consider sharing more about this system by documenting and sharing your learning in a learning pattern.

Thank you once again and best regards from FDC staff! Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 23:16, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot. Actually their is a mistake in the category link, here the good onehttp://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Media_contributed_by_the_Swiss_National_Library. The reporting forms have been shared with several chapter yet and can be access here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1laIKVrdN4ylV_MrQsB5k41tUa5pfhVAgTb89JJQOTjk/viewform . We will see with the PE&D team how we can share and improve that. --Charles Andrès (WMCH) 09:43, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
THanks for that, Charles! Cheers, Winifred Olliff (FDC Support Team) talk 15:32, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
