Grants talk:IEG/Translanguage noticeboard

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi. I am not sure I could completely understand this proposal. Could you please elaborate on which pages will the operations (Merge, Deletion, Split, Help and rule pages, presentation pages, template.) run? Is this driven by the fact that corresponding pages on different languages must be unique (i.e. share the same language links on Wikidata)? Some examples will be helpful too. Thanks. --Haithams (talk) 23:22, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It would be run on wikidata on news wikiproject pages which looks like Wikidata:Interwiki conflicts. I think I don't clearly understand your second question. The only example that I have are on french subject, so I don't thing it will be very helpful. For example, I have merge Pelouse and Pelouse sèche, during the merge several organization have be proposed. But before and after the merge, the organization of the articles is very different with the wp:en version : Grass. In that case, I had prefer to have different view of different wikipedia, to ask which organization of the articles would be the best. --Nouill (talk) 03:44, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funding?[edit]

Could you say how much money you are requesting for this project? From my first reading of the document, it looks like many of the kinds of things you are thinking of talking about are the kinds of things that are going to form naturally as WikiData develops and matures. I think you need to explain why someone should be paid to develop these kinds of policies, and why you think that this grant will make the creation of those policies/procedures easier/faster/better. There are no money requesting (I'm understand that the IEG accept not funding project ?), and I hope that those things will be do naturally on Wikidata, but I don't thing, it (merge and deletion coordination, rule explanation, help standardization) will be done in wikidata in near future (like one, two years) without explicit initiative like that IEG. Actually for 99% of people, Wikidata is interwiki + infobox and list contains. The "grant" permit to determine explicitly that this naturally evolution is possible and desirable. Perhaps the ads convict some people to help to start that sooner than if it will be create naturally. It's not sufficient ? --Nouill (talk) 03:44, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What would you hope to get from an Individual Engagement Grant if not funding? Funding is pretty much the one thing we're able to offer with these grants. Siko (WMF) (talk) 04:35, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ineligible for IEGrant[edit]

Since what you are looking for is not funding, but instead more feedback on your idea: I'm marking this proposal ineligible for an IEGrant. But, I'm going to leave it open in the Grants:IdeaLab, where people can still find it and comment on it. Hope this helps - wishing you lots of luck!
