Page deprecated?[edit]

I was just wondering why this page at en:Wikipedia:Go button is marked as "deprecated"?

  1. Is that just an old message, which should be replaced with the standard "This is a copy of the master help page at Meta. Do not edit this copy. ... " warning?
  2. Or is the page out-of-date, or inaccurate in some way?

The only information that I could determine was missing here, was an explanation of the inability to handle mixed-case capitalisation. eg the go button will fail for haroun and the sea of stories. Perhaps that could be added to the explanation here? --Quiddity 02:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why it's deprecated, but I think what was previously described as step 5 (which I just deleted) doesn't actually happen, see bugzilla:6650. -- Rick Block 03:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

πŸ“Œ Reader help needs massive review πŸ“Œ[edit]

...and this page should likely be changed to a redirect to Help:Searching. I'm mentioning this here to facilitate discussion at Meta:Babel#The Go button? (πŸ“ŒReader help needs massive review). In short, as you can see compared to the history of the similar page at en.WP, this Meta page has languished far too long, which shows the entire documentation set aimed at readers needs immediate and then periodic review.

I wish I could do this myself, but my real-life limitations will likely get in the way. Plus, I mainly edit on en.WP and en.WT, rarely here, so/because I don't have a good grasp on what to do around here. Thanks! β€”Geekdiva (talk) 21:27, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
