The third Wikimedia Iberoamerican Summit 2013 (Iberoconf) will be held in Mexico City, from October 12th to 15th, 2013.
General information[edit]
The summit will be held on October 12th to 15th, 2013. On October 12th, the opening ceremony will be held, along with a presentation of the status of the groups participating in the event. On Sunday there will be a recreational tour and finally Monday and Tuesday we will have working sessions. On Tuesday and Wednesday most of the representatives will depart back to their countries.

Wikimedia México shall be the host of IberoConf in Mexico City.
Program[edit]
The event's hashtag is #Iberoconf, and photographs shall be sent into Commons with the category Iberoconf 2013.

Welcome dinner[edit]
Welcome dinner shall be offered at Hostería de Santo Domingo (on Belisario Domínguez St, Historical Center) on Saturday, October 12, at the end of the inauguration.
Walk to Teotihuacan[edit]
On Sunday, October 13, a walk will be made to Teotihuacan, the archaeological site, just one hour by bus from Mexico City.
The summit points shall be as follows:
- For those staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites: 08:15 am on the corner at República de Uruguay and Pino Suárez streets.
- For those staying at Virreyes Hostel: 08:30 am outside the hostel.
- The bus shall not wait for a long time in both cases, considering that parking at the Historical Center is prohibited.
We recommend to wear light clothing, sunscreen and a head covering. The cost of access is 57 MXN (4.35 USD). Meals at the end of the walk shall be paid by each participant, the average cost being 150 MXN (12 USD). We will be coming back to Mexico City by 5-6 pm.
Closing party[edit]
The closing party shall take place on Tuesday, October 15, at the end of the event, at Bar Xipe (Monte de Piedad 11, in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral).

The official group photo shall be taken on Monday, October 14, out of Telmex Hub.
Getting to the city[edit]
International Airport[edit]
The main way to arrive Mexico City is through the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City.
From the airport to the center of the city[edit]
The airport is located on the east side of Mexico City. The transportation option to the center of the city are: Mexico City Metro, Mexico City Metrobús and taxis.
Metro[edit]
Mexico City's Metro is the cheapest option: if you wish to go downtown from the airport, you may take the Metro at Terminal Aérea stop (at the airport's Terminal 1) or else Hangares stop (at Terminal 2), only a few stps from the airport; a pair of transhipment: Hangares stop (line 5, yellow) => La Raza stop (transhipment to line 3, green) => Hidalgo stop (transhipment to line 2, blue) => Zócalo. The ticket cost is $3.00 MXN ($0.24 USD) (one ticket allows unlimited distance travels and transfers at any given time, making Mexico City Metro one of the cheapest rail systems in the world; there is also an electronic card (see this) and your travel will last about 35 minutes.
Metrobús[edit]
Metrobús is the most convenient option, since there is a direct, no-transhipment route going from the airport to Zócalo, for $40.00 ($3 USD) with new buses, security on board and speed. For this service, you should buy a smartcard (also useful in Metro and electric transportation such as trolleybuses and lightrail) at a selling machine at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 of the airport, where you may pay for the necessary credit. This route may take from 40 minutes up to 1 hour 10 minutes.
- If you use this service to reach Telmex Hub, you should get off at San Lázaro (line 1, pink) stop and take the metro running to Observatorio, get off at Isabel la Católica and walk five blocks down the street of the same name towards the north until you reach República de Uruguay St.
- If you use this service to reach Hotel Virreyes, you shold get off at San Lázaro (line 1, pink) and take the metro running to Observatorio, get off at Salto del Agua, cross Eje Central Avenue until you reach Izazaga St.
Taxi[edit]
The cost of taxis authorized by the airport varies (200-250 MXN), depending on the distance. The safest available services, of course with reasonable rates, are as follows:
- Nueva Imagen (white, logo in red and blue)
- Sitio 300 ("Taxi Base 300")
- Yellow Cab (yellow taxicabs with black squares)
You should buy a ticket at the cabins on the respective lines, where you should indicate your destination. Personnel at the cabin will give you a ticket you should give to the taxi driver. We strongly recommend NOT to take any other type of taxi (either taxis belonging to other companies or else taxis taken outside the airport, on the street).
There are two terminals at the airport: most international flights arrive Terminal 1 (T1); however, in case your flight arrives Terminal 2 (T2), you should first take the [:en:https://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerotrén%7CAerotrén], with free service if you show the boarding pass.

Wikimedia México will be pleased to receive you. Our chapter was created in 2010, recognized in August 2011 and constituted in accordance with Mexican laws in November 2012. We have about 40 partners in the national territory, as well as alliances with many cultural institutions, museums, universities and Mexico City's Government. The National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mozilla México, Telmex, the National Institute of Anthropology and History and the Palace of Fine Arts are some of our most important allies.
All our members are full of warmth, good mood, as well as passion and commitment with Wikimedia projects and philosophy, characteristics which are shared with those attending Iberoconf 2013 conference.
Staff[edit]
For this Iberoamerican event, for receiving you at the airport and for all the social activities to be made, we have about 10 volunteers, coordinated by Iván Martínez and Carmen Alcázar, from Wikimedia México. Also, volunteers from Wikimedia Amoxcalli, a Wikipedian club, will also be supporting the activities of this event.
