[edit] Project Differentiation

I would like to request a carte blanche for any language subproject under and established and endorsed mata-project. Project initiation and closure proposals should be limited to content/function specific proposals rather than language specific proposals. For instance, one might be justified in proposing the closure of the wikisilly project (doesn't exist), but not the wikisilly-fr.

Proposals to close language-specific sub-projects is in direct opposition to the spirit of the wikimedia mission as it reduces free access to information and discourages the further development of these free resources. Exceptions to this are languages that neither have living native speaker nor served as the primary lingua franca for an historical discipline (ie latin, sanskrit).
