The Swahili Wikibooks has no content and no activity apart from spam cleanup. Contacting the Swahili Wikipedia didn't help either. -- Prince Kassad 05:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oppose closing

  1. Oppose Oppose --A12n 12:35, 9 August 2008 (UTC) The various specialized WM projects for African languages pose a greater challenge than the main Wikipedia editions for the same languages. In the case of African languages with some significant print publication, like Swahili, I would think that outreach to appropriate interested communities might yield interesting results, and that exploring that should be part of a WMF strategy. It was good that the sw.wikipedia.org group was contacted, but Wikibooks may need different kinds of contributors. What is the experience with Wikibook editions for other languages with small Wikipedias? I would suggest that this edition not be closed before there is some outreach to find interested parties - to that end I'll post a message on H-Swahili. Given Swahili's importance, this could an ideal opportunity to learn how better to promote development of diverse African language Wikibook projects rather than another chance to cut them short.
  2. Oppose Oppose --RekishiEJ 14:23, 23 August 2008 (UTC) Swahili is one of the dominant languages of Africa, so a few years later Swahili Wikibooks will thrive. Chinese Wikipedia used to have very little activity, but now it is the most popular websites (containing wikis) in Taiwan.
