Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Toki Pona Wikipedia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The result of the following proposal for closing a WMF project is to CLOSE the project. Please, do not modify this page.

The following discussion is closed: the project had already been closed, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:24, 6 December 2008 (UTC) [reply]
Right, but I think that strictly speaking this is not a vote on closing Toki Pona Wikipedia (as you noticed it is already closed) but on removing it from Wikmedia servers. There has already been a similar discussion about removing Siberian Wikipedia. --Filemon 20:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC) [reply]
Hello, please open a new request for that, the text in the request says something different and people voted for that, they should decide whenever they wish to vote for something else themselves, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 20:39, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Toki Pona wikipedia hasn't even got a Main Page. There exist no articles, no project pages, no images, there is nothing. The Statistics page at the wiki pretty much sums it all up. Also, the characteristics of the language make it impractical to have a Wikipedia in this language; it has only got 120 word roots, and large numbers are impossible to write (1,000 would require writing the word tu five-hundred times). The community is also very small.

A Wikipedia in this language is not viable, not even in the Incubator, so it should be closed. Leptictidium 11:35, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Support

  1. Reasons shown above. Leptictidium 11:35, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ahh , that wiki has been closed for a very long time and the database is locked and everything deleted, only thing left is to "uninstall" the wiki...--Cometstyles 13:26, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this should be done. I have no idea why locked wikis continue to exist. Their content should be moved to the incubator and the wikis themselves should be deleted. --Meno25 18:54, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Support. The tokipona wikipedia is empty. Maybe it should send to incubator...--Johnson40213 00:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Incubator is not interested in hosting languages without a valid ISO code. Then it should go to the tokipona wikia or the incubator plus. --OosWesThoesBes 06:09, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Umm... The code in tokipona is tp. It has a vaild language code.--Johnson40213 11:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, it hasn't got tp ISO code (see en:List of ISO 639-1 codes), it doesn't even have ISO 639-3 code (proposal of creating tok code was rejected last year). --Filemon 20:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Support … per more or less everything above. --EivindJ 14:18, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Wiki encyclopedia in Toki Pona now exists on Wikia, so I don't see any reason to keep tokipona.wikipedia.org domain – it is completely empty now. It should be removed as it was done before with Klingon and Siberian Wikipedia. --Filemon 20:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

Oppose

  1. Oppose Since this is an existing language, encyclopedia must be written. And by the way, closing Siberian wikipedia is a great shame. People should be free to write and read encyclopedic articles in any language they want. SA ru 23:53, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please see the closed bar at the top, the tokipona wikipedia had been closed long before this request, and moved to wikia, if You wish to contribute You can do that at http://tokipona.wikia.com/wiki/lipu_lawa
For proposals for new projects or openeing projects see Requests for new languages.
