This page hosts requests for a bot flag on a Wikimedia wiki with no bureaucrats. Please read the instructions before posting a request. Do NOT post your request here until you get community approval (ie, don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the local wiki for at least a week, or whatever local policies dictate). Previous requests are archived.

[edit] Instructions

[edit] Before posting here

If there is a bureaucrat on the local wiki, please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:UserRights on the relevant wiki. Before requesting access here, make sure to obtain consensus on the local wiki if there is a community (see the index of request pages). If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect. You can ask local bot flag directly here for some wikis in some cases (see automatic approval).

Remember to read the local project's bot policy. This should be linked from the local bot request page; a few are listed below. DO NOT post your request here without having fulfilled the local policies first, and having waited for at least a week to gauge community opinion.

[edit] Making a request

  1. Place the following code at the bottom of the "Bot status requests" section below:
    === Bot name@xxproject ===
    {{sr-request
     |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
     |domain    =
     |user name =
     |discussion=
    }}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

    You can use following form when applying global bot status:

    === Global bot status for <yourbotname> ===
    {{sr-request
     |status    = <!--don't change this line-->
     |domain    = global<!--don't change this line-->
     |user name =
     |discussion=
    }}
    (your remarks) ~~~~

  2. Fill in the values:
    • 'domain': the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
    • 'user name': the bot's user name (like "ExampleBot"). Leave it blank if you're requesting access for multiple bots.
    • 'discussion': a link to the local vote or discussion about the bot (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Bots#ExampleBot]]"). Notes: If there is no local vote or discussion, please say so below the template and explain why not. If there's no community, implement the standard bot policy instead.
  3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

[edit] Global bot status requests

Global bots are enabled on most wikis using the standard bot policy (see list of global bot wikis and global bot access requirements). Request will typically be left open for several days to allow comments. Please add requests at the bottom of this section.

[edit] Global bot status for DEagleBot

--Dark Eagle (talk) 16:12, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Some kind of a general sentence surrounding a request is usually useful and appreciated. -Barras talk 11:29, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
On a second look, the bot only has something like 26,000 edits. We usually want to see quite some more edits before granting this flag. -Barras talk 11:33, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Barras. Moreover, the majority of this edits have been performed seven months ago. I would advise to restart the bot for some weeks before requesting bot status. Please see my comment below, on the Bot status requests section. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 08:48, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Marking as X mark.svg Not done for the time being. Please follow Quentinv57's advice and come back when the bot has more recent activity. -Barras talk 10:46, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of bot status

If a specific user is abusing his/her bot status, you may request removal of the status on his account here. Please be sure to provide a short explanation on the current situation, along with links to the bot's contribution and an announcement in your community of the abuse. Previous requests are archived.

[edit] Removal of global bot status

Please see the policy for global bots for the requirements that must be met for global bot access.

[edit] Bot status requests

Please add new requests at the bottom of this section.

Bot operators making bulk requests, please consider applying for global bot status and helping implement the standard bot policy on small wikis to simplify and streamline the bulk request process.

[edit] CeraBot@tgwiki

In one week ? You just opened the request yesterday... -- Quentinv57 (talk) 08:31, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
@ Quentinv57 : Actually I believe that Ceradon created the request on April 26th without being logged in (see [2])… That's why Snowolf corrected the date in the request. Toto Azéro follow the guide ! 10:15, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
You are indeed correct. Snowolf How can I help? 10:16, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the rectification. But it does not matter much, the bot has made only two edits, which is clearly not sufficient for me to grant a bot status at this stage. Plus the owner does not clearly state in the request what he intend to do and not to do with his bot. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 10:18, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit] DastyorBot@uz.wikipedia

This bot works since May 15, 2012, and makes minor edits in category namespace. Abdullais4u (talk) 12:51, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

I'd like to see some more detailed explanation on what you are going to do with the bot. Currently it looks like the bot only creates categories en masse. -Barras talk 11:36, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
The bot has fixed Births by year/date (e.g. "Category:1872 births") and Deaths by year/date (e.g. "Category:2010 deaths") categories or created them if they were non-exist. Abdullais4u (talk) 08:01, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit] DEagleBot@hywiki

iw bot --Dark Eagle (talk) 16:30, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello. The only contributions your bot made the last 7 months are two edits on its user page. As interwikis and interwiki.py have evolved in the last months, I think it would be more appropriate to restart the bot for one or two week, and to check that it's still working properly. Thanks. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 08:43, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
I always hold my pywikipedia folder updated... so, in few days I'll do it, now I'm a bit busy --Dark Eagle (talk) 22:13, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Err....I overran the recent change and has been requested to stop until a bot flag is granted[4]....Although no blockage has been given.Justincheng12345 (talk) 09:08, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm... I never said you to perform 1000 test edits, 100/200 is enough. Moreover, I would advise you for next time to run your bot in slow mode (10 edits by hour max) to show that your bot works properly without flooding the recent changes. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 10:38, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
