Bots on Persian Wikipedia (fa.wikipedia)

Hi:

There are a number of bots who have community support and are awaiting bot-flag on fa.wikipedia.org. (Persian Wikipedia). They can be found here: w:fa:ویکی‌پدیا:اتحادیهٔ کارگری ربات‌ها/تقاضای پرچم

Thanks, Behaafarid 02:57, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

There are local bureaucrats on this wiki : fa:Special:Listusers/Bureaucrat. Please ask them to give the bot flag using the fa:Special:Makebot special page. Thanks. guillom 08:29, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi thanks for the comment. I am aware of the existence of the B's. I am a sysop over there. The B's are not much active. One of them is on strike and the other ones I don't know. I would really appreciate if you could do it yourself if it is not much hassle. Behaafarid 01:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Hamed and Masoud are inactive, but both Shervinafshar and روزبه are active: they edited yesterday or the day before. Stewards shall not act on wikis where there are active bureaucrats. guillom 08:39, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

tr:User:WOPR

I request that tr:User:WOPR get a bot flag on the Turkish Wikipedia. The account belongs to White Cat. According to our bot policy, 5 support votes are enough to be flagged. Turkish Wikipedia currently has no bureaucrats ever since Dbl2010 has resigned, so another steward will have to do it

Thank you! -- Cat chi? 15:01, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Done guillom 15:03, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
White Cat will probably think that i am stalking him and more likely trolling. But the account should not have been flagged yet. 5 votes criteria is just for interwiki bots and this bot will be used for category maintanence, find and replace etc. For that kind of bot we have different criteria and we need 10 support votes minimum. However, i do not say that this action should be undone, since the bot will definitely be used for good. I am just saying that in the future you should ask someone who will provide accurate information when it comes to local policies. To sum up; do not worry, no harm done, but you should have been aware of this simple fact.--Vito Genovese 21:04, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Fascinating. -- Cat chi? 21:06, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Vito Genovese: are you saying we should always ask someone else from the local project when someone requests a bot flag? How would we know if this person will provide "accurate information"? We are forced to assume good faith, as we can't check complicated local policies written in languages we don't read. So to sum up, in the future you should rather elect local bureaucrats who will be aware of the details of your policies. guillom 08:47, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Nope. You were the one who hesitated to sysop two users who had successful RFAs, due to the fact that you were unsure if such an action would comply with local policy, even though i had informed you perfectly well about it. I was right back then, but it did not matter, since they were sysopped anyway. Now, in this situation this account should have not been flagged, since it still is not eligible for it. You could talk to Dbl2010 about this, he's much more stricter about the bot policy than i am. What i am saying is, there should be some kind of mechanism for you guys to verify whether the information provided here is true or not. Finding the best way is really up to you, you could ask Dbl2010 or a sysop of the project. When i talked to you about the sysopping matter, i perfectly understood your hesitation, since you had the right not to trust me about telling you the truth about the policy. But this time, even though you did trust the person who provided you the information, the information was untrue.
And regarding your questions: Of course you should ask someone who is well informed about the local policies. We all know that there is a slight status difference between the users, which is called "reliability". So, if someone is reliable, then you can count on him about being accurate. You and i both know that this is a matter of trust and good faith, however you had the chance to assume good faith last time as well. As for the bureaucratship, i obviously know that, but due to recent troll wars, it's best to wait for a couple of weeks before nominating someone. I am aware of the fact that i am kind of close to trolling myself. Please know that i have no intention of start a fire; i am just telling you what i think, since you asked.
The bot is a useful one and i support its actions. What i told you is just for future reference.
Vito Genovese 15:52, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
So, in a word: you complain because I trusted White Cat and I didn't trust you. The difference is he asked for bot status with 5 supporting votes and no opposition and you requested sysop status for 2 users who had numerous oppositions. As long as you rely on stewards because you don't want to hold bureaucrat elections, you will also rely on their limited ability to determine consensus. guillom 17:11, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

tr:User:Loveless

I request that tr:User:Loveless get a bot flag on the Turkish Wikipedia. The account belongs to Darkoneko, who you all know as a steward. According to our bot policy, 5 support votes are enough to be flagged, when it comes to interwiki bots and currently it has 6. Turkish Wikipedia currently has no bureaucrats ever since Dbl2010 has resigned, so another steward will have to do it (Don't worry Guillom. This involves no decisions either :) )

Bots on Nov

At the moment the recent changes at the Novial wikipedia are flooded with bot edits. I spoke to one of the sysops (BRG) and on of the users (Wayne) and they both agreed that the bots should be marked as bot.

When i check the Recent changes i see: TXiKiBoT, EDUCA33E, Escarbot, BotMultichill, Thijs!bot & JAnDbot. Multichill 08:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

In fact, Interwiki bot/Operators does not list the bots, nor does it say that there are no bot operators on the Novial wikipedia, which is a bit puzzling. -- BRG 14:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Just for your information, this page is terribly outdated. What is your decision? guillom 14:56, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Multichill's request makes a lot of sense. Right now, "Recent changes" lists a plethora of bot actions, so it is very hard to find the real user edits -- BRG 13:18, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Done. Though, next time, please format your request with the template above, including the link to the local list of bureaucrats. Moreover, in your message on the local project, you tell people to support your bot request on meta; this is not how the process works. You need to reach consensus on the local project first, and then make your request here, once consensus has been reached or after one week if nobody opposes. guillom 09:18, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for setting the bit. I think you may have misunderstood my message and I could have written it down differently there so that it would have been less ambiguous. I meant to ask for local support in the topic I opened there and most definately did not mean to ask them to support the request here... Cheers! Siebrand 03:12, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
You wrote The request for the bot status is here [link to meta]. Please support. I think you didn't need to write the first sentence on the local wiki ;) guillom 09:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Are bot flags really necessary? If there is not community, nobody is bothered by the RC, and if the wiki closes soon... Just a thought :) guillom 11:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
