There is certain to be prior work on this topic, so the first item is doing searches to find it.
Next, there will need to be some process which does the format conversion from raw links to the format of the visualization (SVG?), so there should be some consultation with experts in this area ( such as Mike Bostock http://bost.ocks.org/mike/ or Bret Victor http://worrydream.com/ ).
Then the process needs a place to run, both for development and production.
