Wikimania[edit]

Hi L2,

I'm organising Wikimania in London next summer. As part of this, I am organising a series of five hackathons in the preceding months. The dates for these are not entirely firmed down yet, but in principle would you be interested in organising an L2 hackathon at the same time as one of them? Please get back to me at edsaperia@gmail.com

I think in principal there are many of us who would be interested, though as a decentralized volunteer effort we obviously can't commit to organizing anything at a specific time yet. Also we likely don't know what these research hackathons will look like--this will be our first one! Perhaps we can revisit the conversation in a month or two? +1. If you're really planning five hackathons, I suspect that some of us will be interested/available to participate in some way that overlaps with them (either with local L2 instances or something else!). Aaronshaw (talk) 19:34, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unasked for advice: 5 hackathons is a lot! Don't plan to wear yourself out before Wikimania. I'd concentrate my energies on a couple successful events -- or else use the hackathon theme as a regular Wikimania volunteer meetup event as well and make it partly about conference hacking/planning, and keep it pretty lowkey. -- phoebe | talk 01:07, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
