Research talk:MySQL queries

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Page moved from Toolserver[edit]

Moved this from tswiki:MySQL_queries. Needs to be linked from R:Resources and links, cluster names, other terminology, etc. also need to be updated Jtmorgan (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jtmorgan, Nemo bis: I disagree this should eventually be moved to mediawiki.org or wikitech. Jonathan was porting content from the TS as part of work that the Research team is doing to consolidate data resources and provide key metric definitions (see for example this or this or this). This information will eventually need to live on Meta as anything research-related. DarTar (talk) 00:47, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nemo, this page is provided as a resource for researchers who want to work with revision data. User:Steven_(WMF) marked the old query library page for historical interest (before you removed it) because it documented a set of queries developed during the 2011 Summer of Research. The page I created is of current relevance: the stuff I copied over from tswiki was intended to serve as a starting point, as I tried to make clear in my talk page post and edit comments. We recently organized the first of several Research Hackathons aimed at helping researchers become acquainted with research questions and research processes. It makes sense to host resources for these efforts within meta:Research:, rather than on wikis devoted to technical documentation. And we're already doing so: see Research:Data, Research:Revert_detection, and Research:Metrics. So the toolserver page can stay, but that's not the right place to host this content.
