If there is an active bureaucrat on the local wiki (type Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat), please ask them to fulfill your request using Special:RenameUser on the relevant wiki. Sometimes Project:RENAME redirects to the local request page and the Index of pages where renaming can be requested may also be used to help you locate the right page. If there is no local community, request on this page with a note to that effect.

Please list specific projects that you need rename in under your request and DO NOT just request to rename at all projects. Renaming in all wikis with bureaucrats should be handled locally

[edit] Making a request for your own account

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • the wiki project on which you ask for the renaming,
  • a link to the local (old) user page, where you put a formal request with your local account

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. Please don't skip the last point, even if there's no community on the project. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists.

For changing your username on several wikis:

If you want to have your username changed on several wikis at the same time, please put a list of these wikis on one of your user pages and make sure that there is a link back to this page from all of the other user pages. Alternatively you can post a short request separately with all the user accounts to be renamed. Please give here only the link to the user page with your list and replace the "@ project" in the headline by "on several projects" or the like.

[edit] Making a request for an account that is not yours

If you want to have an account renamed because it's name is harrassing or insulting, or if it impersonates you or someone else, please include the following information in your request:

  • the account's name, including a translation into English, (if it's harrassing or insulting),
  • the wiki project on which you ask for the renaming,
  • the impersonated account (if the account is impersonating), this can be cross wiki.

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Please add new requests at the end of the page. Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects please.

I've already changed the username in en.wikipedia.org . The other wikis I have listed are only those in which I have contributed.

Please be specific on which all wikis you need renames. Per policy, Stewards will not rename accounts if there is a local crat active. --Jyothis 03:25, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

They are listed in w:en:User_talk:IIBewegung. I think they all have crats. I was redirected from a meta-crat that I should put in the request here to be renamed in multiple projects (if not globally) at the same time. Would it be possible to do that here? If not, I guess I'll have to go ask the local crats of each of the 6 wikis I've listed... --Immer in Bewegung 04:33, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I have renamed you on kowikisource and kowikiquote, since the only crats there have been inactive for ages. For the remaining 4 please contact local bureaucrats. We will only be able to help you on those if they do not respond to your request after some time. Bencmq 07:04, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Done: siwiki, uzwiki, ugwiki, tawiki, fawikisource, kgwiki, kywiki, htwiki, ocwiki, wikimania2011wiki, tgwiki, lawiki. I've only renamed accounts with at least one edit, and where the bureaucrats are either inactive for more than three months or non-existant. We are definitely not going to perform global renames to help you with a test of personal reason because it takes much effort and time. Most of your edits are (bot-assisted I believe) userpage creations that has no true significance anyway. Please create another account if you need to. Hallo Bencmg, I am registered in 308 Wikies, see below, I want to remove my Name "Hermann Winkler" and my company name "Siemens". The reason is self protection. I did make this mistake by my self to choose "Hermann Winkler Siemens". Please help me to change ist to an anonymous name. Or can you delete the user in all wikies, except in de.wikipedia.org?

Having a single page here that local project 'crats were encouraged to watch and act on would simplify life for people without requiring the creation of new tools or meta policies. It would be down to each project if they wanted to participate. Anyway, probably not the right page to suggest this on... QU TalkQu 22:53, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Requests for renaming an account of another person

Please add new requests on top (below this message). Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects and make sure you specify the exact account you want to be renamed in the text. For renaming other users' accounts there should be valid reasons, as are for instance insulting, intimidating or impersonating names.
