Stewards are elected at least once a year by the global Wikimedia community. The number of stewards is not limited by policies. Candidates must have a support/oppose ratio of at least 80% with at least 30 supporting users. Current stewards are confirmed once a year (usually in February), and stewards are subject to the steward policies.
