  • Request bot flag for pl:Wikipedysta:Margosbot. Public anouncement: pl:Wikipedia:Bar#Status bota dla Wikipedysta:Margosbot. I'm inserting new interwiki links to articles. As for now I've put them into over 2000 articles (using regular account). At the moment I've interwikis for next 457 articles. I prepare them offline, and put them using a bot. Portuguese (pt) version of Wikinews:

Hi! Our recently launched version in Portuguese of Wikinews is currently in need of some other urgent software translations and there is no user with sysop status to change the MediaWiki messages.

So, my question is, can you turn me into an administrator? Because if we keep this way, there will never be someone able to translate the remaing messages (and there are tons of them). Hi, please give sysop permissions and bureaucrat flag to User e2m, at the portuguese edition of Wikinews, he is a experient admin from the the portuguese wikipedia.
Giving this permission to him, will give us a base to start polls for new admins at the portuguese wikinews and to translate the remaining of the software.

  • As User:Gangleri suggested to me, I request for bot flag on sr: for bot Millbot. General purpose of this bot is synchronizing of Cyrillic, Latin and ASCII Latin pages on sr:. Development of this bot would not be in the way of taking care about interwiki links (even it can do that if there is no other job), but to take care about consistency of sr:. Hi, I'm not quite sure which part is missing. Please bear with me. So far I've linked to the local admin page, which links back here and does explain what an admin is and can do. It has a null list of admins, plus my name listed as pending. The "large wikis only" requirement does not apply. The language code and project name are in the link. The only thing missing is my user name there (though I did give the user ID, which was previously asked for when I requested sysop status for the Min Nan Wikipedia, probably because of the diacritic in my user name), which is identical to my user name here.   • I would like to request an emergency revocation of sysop status for קלײנער קעניגל in the Yiddish Wikipedia. He is engaging in inappropriate speedy deletion. He keeps deleting all redirects from titles in different dialects, thereby breaking the links in other articles. In general he does not seem to care about others or their opinions and the democratic process. And being the only permanent sysop on that Wikipedia, he does whatever he likes.   • The Portuguese Wikipedia decided new rules to choose burocrats, with these new rules we voted for 3 burocrats here. In this election, the community of portuguese wikipedia decided that Mschlindwein, Muriel and Manuel Anastácio are the new burocrats, and the community decided to revoke the burocrat status of JoaoMiranda. Well, I requested to JoaoMiranda to grant burocrats status for three people above, but he doesn't come to pt.wikipedia since january 18.   • Cao Xuân Hiếu would like to become an administrator for the Vietnamese Wikipedia (w:vi:). He has gotten support from three Vietnamese users (including me, a sysop) and "limited support" from a third user. (That's actually an achievement for a wiki of our size.) Note for Yurik regarding the Japanese YurikBot account : just ask a bureaucrat to rename the account using Special:Renameuser, then you can recreate it with a different password. I don't think there's any need to find out who did it. It's just one of those silly little things that bored kids do sometimes.

  • I'd like to be an admin on nds.wiktionary. Short time ago we spoke on nds.wikipedia about having a Wiktionary and were planning for a structured beginning. As luck would have it, also some people from other wiktionaries had the idea of beginning the nds.wiktionary, they have some wordlists they want to insert automatically, but for my knowledge noone of them speaks Low Saxon. It would be good, if I had the possibility to help sorting the things out. Recently also wikt:nds:Bruker:GerardM became admin, but he speaks no Low Saxon. There is no "requests for bureaucrat" section on that page, only "nominations", and I'm thinking of removing that. Since bureaucrats can only be created by stewards and developers, and these folks have to sort out every wiki, it would make more sense for these requests to be managed centrally at Meta, otherwise the poor stewards will have to regularly check every wiki (of which there are hundreds), and I don't believe this is what actually happens. I also realize that this page states "where no local means exists", but something you have to realize about the nature of wiki is that even though a page may exist, it doesn't mean aynone reads it, or keeps it up-to-date. Most of our sysops are inactive, and this is a problem. Many users have tried to get sysop status by applying on that page, but found that nothing ever happens, and eventually give up. As a consequence, there is no-one there to combat the ongoing vandalism. I'm hoping the the same is not true of this wiki. Update: I'm somewhat concerned by the fact that I can make administrators, but I can't remove them. One of the mechanisms required for the swift granting of admin permissions must be the ability to swiftly remove such permissions, in the event the the user is deemed to have excessively abuse their new-found power. Our wiki runs the 1.5beta with the Special:Userrights page (which I assume would allow this functionality), but I don't seem to be able to access it. Only stewards can technically remove the rights of an editor. Not a bureaucrat. When it is necessary to remove rights of someone, it must be first decided on a local wiki, by the whole community (by any mean necessary - typically voting). Only after this has been decided, you may come over here or ask a steward on irc for speeder reaction, and the steward will carry on the request. Remember : sysops are normally trusted editors, they may go wrong, but they will normally not be vandals (unless you give sysop power in a very strange way). Anthere

  • I have had my edit privledges revoked for 48 hours by en:User:David_Gerard for sock puppetry. The IP in question is a proxy server for tunnelrats.org.au, the server in question has a member access list of in excess of 178 people, (access to the members dbase I had provided to David_Gerard) and on polite discussion with him informing him that there is no foul play occuring or intended, he responded with a quip on my talk page that 'he's not stupid'.
I can provide proxy logs and member dbase access to anyone wanting to verify this information is correct and factual, as I explained to him, if it was a case of sock puppetry I'd just cycle the IP address on the proxy server, but I would prefer to do things by the book as there was no instance of foul play or sock puppetry occuring. Could an administrator / steward please assist in this matter, as he seems to be quite a witch hunter of sock puppets and refuses to use any reasoning other than his belief.
