The Greying of the pedia[edit]

In real life I've met several editors who have edit counts on EN Wiki that are among the highest 200 en:Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits, I can't claim to have a scientific sample of that group - for all I know there could be some teenagers amongst us. But the ones I've met are in their fifties or older, I don't know if other languages are experiencing the same drift. But what I'm seeing is the greying of the pedia, and I'm pretty sure what we are seeing is that once a middle aged bloke settles on the wiki as a hobby they are likely to stick around for a while. Our problem is the retention of the young male editors who are our much reviled core demographic. WereSpielChequers 08:22, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
