Update suggestions[edit]

This list could use a bit of an update. It is in pretty good shape given that it is six years old and most answers seem fine. The most obvious need is the question about the age of Wikipedia. Well we could simply update the age from seven years to 13. I suspect that this is not a frequently asked question anymore so my suggestion would be to remove it from the list. A more important item is the question and answer regarding administrators. It may be useful to emphasize that administrators hold very few powers related to content itself. Many people are under the assumption that administrators have some vetting role over content. It is correct to say that many deletions require a consensus of editors, but quite a few are deleted under the CSD process which does not require input from non-administrators.

Another answer flatly states that all Wikipedia contributors are volunteers. While this is mostly true, in the last few years there are a number of editors who have become Wikipedians-in-residence. This position often includes duties other than simply edits but the position carries some compensation and it would be disingenuous to suggest that no edits are overcompensated.

In addition, while highly discouraged there are some editors who work on a for hire basis some discussion of this aspect is warranted.--Sphilbrick (talk) 20:38, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to say much the same thing. The information seems dated, and inaccurate in some details. · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 13:55, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
