Encyc

The following discussion is closed: Added by Alison

Encyc fulfills all six requirements above. It is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, similar to Wikipedia, and complements Wikipedia by having a slightly different style. Sole Flounder 22:18, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Proposed removals

Species:

The following discussion is closed: Not done surely to often used. This is only one case. --Barras 13:22, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

When using the search on Wikipedia, for Species: The Awakening, it exits Wikipedia and shows a broken link on Wikimedia. Please remove this, and have the search go to the proper Wikipedia article instead. Dream Focus 18:09, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Dream Focus! I tend to say no to remove this interwiki. the correct article name is en:Species - The Awakening. The ":" is not needed in this case. Furthermore, Species: is used often and shouldn't be removed. Regards, --Barras 18:15, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

AspieNetWiki:

Site is down, apparently since January 2009. It's also a double redirect (aspie.mela.de -> aspieforum.de -> typonoma.de, which is an empty site). It also doesn't seem to be used on either the English Wikipedia or the German one, though I'm not sure the search tool would correctly return results for interwiki prefixes. -- Soap 19:37, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

lurkmore.ru

Interwiki links to this site are used to circumvent spam protection on ru-wiki (site is in local spam-blacklist). Site contains offensive and potentially libellous information about living persons. Spammers and vandals use interwiki links extensively to link to this site on Russian Wikipedia. Examples:

  • [1]: link from word «скрипка» (violin) to article on LM about «быдло» («cattle», often used as pejorative in Russian).
  • [2]: link from word «писатель» (author) to article on LM about «графоман» (see en:Graphomania, used as pejorative in Russian).
  • [3]: vandalism, adding irrelevant links.
  • [4]: spam.

Please remove this site from interwiki map ASAP due to extensive abuse by vandals and spammers. --Grebenkov 16:49, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

  • As ru.wiki admin & checkuser I can confirm it. --DR 16:51, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Good idea to remove a perfectly fine interwiki simply because some people misuse it. I suggest blanket removal of every interwiki ever misused, and before accusing me of going top absurd, start by asking if the original argument is not absurd.
See inclusion requirements above. Site should be trusted not to encourage spam links being added to the Wikimedia projects. As lurkmore.ru is included in Russian Wikipedia spam-blacklist, it is obviously not trusted enough. If interwiki links are used mostly to vandalize articles, harass users and circumvent spam-protection, they are obviously not "perfectly fine". --Grebenkov 21:48, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
