Proposed additions

Wowpedia

The vast majority of editing staff has left Wowwiki (hosted by Wikia) and set up an active new site, including all the content from Wowwiki, at Wowpedia. Wowwiki is now considered by everyone not working for Wikia to be deprecated. Can we add a new interwiki link for this? Wowpedia : http://www.wowpedia.org/$1 Leondz 13:42, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Not done: only 29 links in en.wiki. --Nemo 12:59, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Request for Wikibiografías from BCN

I'm requesting the inclusion of the interwiki wbio to link to the pages of the Wikibiografías project released by the Chilean Library of the National Congress (Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile). This project is a wiki with biographies of more than 3,000 deputies and senatores, all the congresspeople of the history of Chile.

Wikibiografías is a really useful project, especially for the project of the Hansards of the National Congress that has been developing on the Spanish-speaking Wikisource. The project is also under a CC licence.

The syntax should be http://wikibiografias.bcn.cl/wiki/$1 --B1mbo 14:41, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

It's a fairly specific site, have you considered making an external link template for it so you don't have to wait on IW map addition? Kylu 16:21, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
The problem is that in the case of the Hansards of the Congress, there are links to multiple congresspeople. In fact, some have lists of more than 100 congresspeople (especially the pages with the asistance of the deputies to some sessions) in the same page, so an external link template would be too complicate to use. --B1mbo 18:31, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Correction. The site is now http://biografias.bcn.cl, so the syntax should be http://biografias.bcn.cl/wiki/$1 --B1mbo 15:02, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Can someone please review this? --B1mbo 17:59, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Done with BCNbio prefix because this isn't the only wiki with biographies; I'm still not sure that an interwiki is the best tool for such a small amount of links, but given that the project doesn't like templates and this is a "friend" and quite relevant website I think that the request is acceptable. --Nemo 12:56, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Wikimedia Local Chapter wiki

Please add the following wiki to IW table:

Thanks. --Waihorace 12:12, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Not done Macau, until it's an approved chapter; wmhk: and wmtw: already added by me some time ago. --Nemo 12:44, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Requests for updates

Further: the domain for CreaturesWiki has been moved to http://creatures.wikia.com/wiki/$1 and DCDatabase was also moved to http://dc.wikia.com/$1 and it looks like JiniWiki was taken offline. Panawiki now seems to use index.php?title=$1 rather than wiki/$1 for whatever reason. PersonalTelco no longer uses index.cgi/$1 and has shortened it to just http://www.personaltelco.net/$1 and PhpWiki appears to be down. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 05:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

  • Please change back OEIS. It has always pointed to the OEIS sequence database at oeis.org/$1 and not the OEIS wiki at oeis.org/wiki/$1. The November 1 change [1] must have taken effect today where lots of OEIS links suddenly broke, for example at en:List of prime numbers. Note that http://oeis.org/wiki/Main_Page says:
Here you will find discussion pages related to the OEIS---everything except the sequences themselves.
The main OEIS page is http://oeis.org. Use that page for looking up a sequence, searching the database, contributing new sequences, editing sequences, etc.
There will rarely be reason to link to the OEIS wiki from other sites. If the interwiki map wants to make it possible then the OEIS wiki should get a new name and OEIS: should remain as oeis.org/$1. There are too many existing links relying on that, and the sequences at oeis.org/$1 is the OEIS. PrimeHunter 21:37, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Done changed CreaturesWiki, DCDatabase, PersonalTelco, Panawiki and ofcourse OEIS. But I haven't removed JiniWiki - Hoo man (talk) 00:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Not done Deja and Jini, I don't think that removing dead interwikilinks is useful. --Nemo 13:04, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Troubleshooting

betawikiversity and wikiversity broken

Links on Commons to betawikiversity: and wikiversity: appear broken. Also, although not sure if it ever worked, wikiversity:beta: does not work. On Meta as well:

Krinkletalk 23:20, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

PS, now that I saved it I see they do work but only from within the page not in the URL. So for example commons:betawikiversity:test is broken. But I guess that does't matter.
Resolved.

I noticed this as well: it's the same for all interwiki links (more or less). I used to use interwikis in the search bar (to get e.g. on Meta), but now I'm redirected to an actual search in Commons; if they used to work in the URL as well and now they don't, I'd say that they've been converted to non-local interwikis for some reason, and you should open a bug for that. --Nemo 11:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Explicit warning

It doesn't explicitly say in the header that an interwiki link added here will affect the interwiki databases for all Wikimedia Foundation projects. I would suggest some proposed wording such as "be careful when modifying the interwiki table here, as it can affect all the databases for interwiki links across the Wikimedia Foundation projects, not just meta." :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 06:54, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

The warning would only be applicable to a Meta admin, really. If someone is an administrator elsewhere and gains admin rights on Meta, they had better not be editing certain pages (like this, the portal template pages, and blacklists) unless they know what they're doing. BOLD is usually nice, but mucking up IWM or SBL and accidentally disabling editing everywhere isn't. If you'd like to suggest specific wording changes to the header or directions at the top, however, feel free. Kylu 18:18, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Cache updated

I've just updated the interwiki cache. -- JeLuF 14:32, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

de.Wikipedia.org and other language versions

Why aren`t there de.Wikipedia.org and other language versions of big branches of Wikipedia other than en.wikipedia.org? --Diskriminierung 07:46, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Because those interwikis are managed with the language and prefix system w:de:, de:w: etc., while the interwiki map contains only old and deprecated English-only interwikis with complete project name. --Nemo 11:46, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
