[edit] Popular or rare articles

By counting the times an article does not appear in the various Wikipedias, it is possible to determine the popularity, or rarity, of those articles to the extent they exist.

Popular articles: The following are some of the popular articles that exist in almost all languages of Wikipedias:

Rare articles: The following are some of the rare articles that have been slow to appear in some languages of the Wikipedias:

en:I. M. Pei, en:Abu Nuwas, en:Matsuo Bashō,
en:Arnaut Daniel, en:Fuzûlî, en:Kālidāsa,
en:Li Bai, en:Shota Rustaveli,
en:Snorri Sturluson, en:William Wordsworth,
en:Pieter Brueghel the Elder.

Many people were rare (including American poet "William Wordsworth"), but also many ideas (such as "Colonialism") were also rare.

[edit] Whale problem?

Hi! I removed Catalan from the list the other minute, as cawp clearly had the article in question - ca:Balena - which does point out both definitions of the word in Catalan. Now I see Swedish is present in the list as well, with the very same "missing" article. But the iw link to svwp exists at en:Whale, and furthermore svwp contains articles about both definitions of English 'whale' (sv:Valar and sv:Bardvalar). I'm positively puzzled.

Previous comment was not published before due to some sintax problems. --CristianCantoro 01:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong interwiki, disambiguation pages, redirects and translations

I am checking out the absent articles list of the Italian Wikipedia and I have noticed some problems:

I believe I can continue for other articles, what can be done to fix this? --CristianCantoro 01:18, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

This list is automatically generated. To permanently fix absent items, the en.wp must have an interwiki link to the Italian articles. And you cannot have two different en.wp articles point to the same Italian article. Also, bots will remove interwiki links to disambiguation pages or redirects. Only create interwiki links to true articles that match the topic. If for some reason it impossible to create an Italian article for one of these absent articles (like the concept is missing from the language) then you can discuss having that item removed here: Talk:List of articles every Wikipedia should have. --MarsRover 20:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Addiction

Are you sure, this disambig en:Addiction should be in all wikipedias? --Alex Blokha 10:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I was wondering about this too. It's quite strange that a disambig page got into this list. Anybody? Explenation? בן גרשון 18:46, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Addiction was a normal article in en.wp last month but now is a disamb. Its replacement is being discussed here: Talk:List of articles every Wikipedia should have#Addiction --MarsRover 19:47, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit] en:Mongol empire and sw:Milki ya Wamongolia

The present list (as of 25. May 2010) shows Mongol empire missing in sw; the article exits and is also linked in both interwikis. hitch? 91.98.113.164 13:48, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

The list is only updated once a month. it will be fixed around june 1st --MarsRover 16:28, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah but that is an old article has been there or 2 years or so; but I cannot be sure if the interwiki was correct. 91.98.113.164 16:00, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
The iw link in en.wp was reason it was missing. That was fixed two weeks ago.--MarsRover 17:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Interwiki problems with sh wikipedia

80 % sh wikipedia Absent Articles is existing, but because of interwiki problems they are not on the meta list.

Simple examples of this situation are:

Out of 20 articles which have been listed like absent on sh wikipedia only 3 are really absent. All others are writen ????????--Rjecina2 11:07, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Make sure there is an interwiki link from English wikipedia to sh wikipedia. For example, Rosa Luxemburg is missing the link. --MarsRover 14:53, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
You have been right about that and sorry to say I am having again question. This time it is about Magnetic field (with added error), because on this page is writen that we are not having this article which exist from 2006 and which is having interwiki link from God knows when on english wikipedia.
I want to add (maybe it is not important) that there is no difference between hr and sh name and interwiki link on english wikipedia. First is hr:magnetno polje and second is sh:magnetno polje. First is working for meta second NO ? --Rjecina2 13:36, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
The interwiki links are fine. The script that generates the score sometimes throws an error reading the article if the server is busy at the time. In that case, your will see "Error" after the article name and that article will be ignored for the score calculation (like we only had 999 articles in the list). Someday I will fix the program to "re-try" in this situation but errors don't happen often. --MarsRover 18:37, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
This error is not going away so we will need to wait ??--Rjecina2 07:10, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
I noticed some vandalism on the page that included a bogus "REDIRECT" that may have been the cause of the problem. --MarsRover 07:30, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes I have seen your work :)
My thinking has been that we are having meta mistake, not text mistakes......--Rjecina2 08:17, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Persian Wikipedia

Hi, please don't remove persian wikipedia (fawiki) empty section from this list. while we done all of them, i dont like readers think that our wikipedia excluded from this list because this sentence: "Wikipedias missing more than 250 articles are excluded from this list." ! --ebraminiotalk 20:41, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Since this page is about missing articles, and not about wikipedias, you won't find for example English, Portugues, Hebrew, Swedish or Catalan either. --Boivie 21:55, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
