Talk:Movement roles/Affiliations Committee

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

We need to resolve how this works with the current ChapCom. Proposals so far include:

  • having a separate group develop policies for AffCom, then integrating with current ChapCom work
  • having a separate AffCom which works with ChapCom for a year (leads to duplication of workspaces and work)
  • asking ChapCom to expand its scope to include these new tasks (requires more activity from current committee)

The first seems easiest to develop. SJ talk | translate   22:58, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Accountability[edit]

While I very much like the positive wording of the Affiliation Committee's responsibilities, what role might AffCom play with respect to ensuring that all groups - chapters, associations, partners, and affiliates - meet accountability standards? And what role will AffCom play in those rare and extreme cases of groups that are unable to function successfully? Bishdatta 21:57, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

State of the Movement[edit]

Produce an annual state of the movement report that encompasses the activities of all these groups.

That sounds like a tall order, perhaps qualify this with "In partnership with all movement players, help .."?--Eloquence 01:57, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Depends how in-depth the report is; "34 Chapters of whom 30 took part in GLAM activities and the rest were idle, 12 Affiliated Groups of which 9 undertook governmental lobbying and the other 3 took part in social activities." sort-of fulfils this requirement. A 1000-word brief description of all the movements' activities with links to individual groups' reports would suffice, and the most important section would be the overview section ("This year, we have continued to expand our partnership work with GLAM organisations in the US and EU, but less so in Asia and Africa") to give context and impetus for further work. But yes, agree with your proposed modification. :-)
