[edit] Please help us at en.wikiquote.org

Please help us at en.wikiquote.org. We don't always have active vandal fighters around, and the project is beset by sockers, such as Dantherocker1 (talk · contribs) and q:User:Bubbaloo. -- Cirt (talk) 23:30, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Here, please see Steward_requests/Checkuser#Heecfyahoo.ca.40en.wikiquote, look at the contribs, we need help fixing all the vandalism. -- Cirt (talk) 23:31, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Done. Apologies for forgetting that I could have marked those as bot edits. Ajraddatz (Talk) 23:45, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Cirt, is it more the malicious editing or are you also getting url spam. If the latter, I will talk to Beetstra to see if we can get better monitoring or highlighting of that spam through COIBot. billinghurst sDrewth 00:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Both, please see our admin board, q:Wikiquote:AN. -- Cirt (talk) 02:38, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Non-IRC ways to help?

Are there ways to help without constantly hanging out in IRC? I would love to help out, but I can't always be hanging out in IRC, and there are likely others who are the same. Perhaps something like Special:RecentChanges, but instead a listing of recent potential spam changes (perhaps updated by the same bots which throw info into IRC). I've looked through the tools, but I can't see anything there which seems to be like this. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:18, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Yes, have a look at User:COIBot/Local and User:COIBot/XWiki, to get most effectiveness look to turn the assisting gadget. billinghurst sDrewth 07:24, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Though as an addendum, it works better in conjunction with IRC for some active searching and checking tools where you are looking at building cases for sneaky spammers here to play, not just slam and bam. If you are looking for something more immediate for the servers, watching the history of the page is very useful as it updates regularly. You can also get the server to run updated checks by use of User:COIBot/Poke so you don't have to be in IRC. I will admit that the documentation on how to assist is slim. billinghurst sDrewth 10:17, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps I can update the documentation a bit once I get the hang of things. I agree it's currently somewhat marginal in many ways. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:28, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
You can also use IRC without the need for a client, through the webchat. Just join the cvn-sw channel to monitor for vandalism :) Ajraddatz (Talk) 14:40, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the info! ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:44, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Odd interwiki links on ky: main page

Sometimes when navigating to the main page of the Kyrgyz Wikipedia the "In Other Languages" links point not to other Wikipedias' main pages, but to their Featured Picture pages. At other times the inter-language links display fine. After a little tinkering, I have a hunch that logging in and logging out has something to do with it (the problem has so far only occurred for me when logged out, although it did not re-appear after logging in and logging back out again). It was a Win XP computer and the problem occurred (at least under certain conditions) both in IE 8 and FF 9. It Is Me Here t / c 20:36, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Works for me after I cleared the pages cache (action=purge), so Yes check.svg Done - Hoo man (talk) 23:18, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
No obvious changes taking place within the file, looked okay to me securely logged in with FF, and not logged in with Chrome. ky:Template:Интервики_башбаракта is unchanged and fairly standard in importation. I would agree with Hoo man that it may have been some caching artefact. On that matter, the interwikis for their main page look pretty light on, I might drop them a note for an expansion. billinghurst sDrewth 00:12, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestions for monitoring 1.19 rollout?

I was looking for a way to monitor non-English village pumps for problem reports. Is there a way the SWMT could help in this? -- MarkAHershberger(talk) 22:29, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Not really, especially with most problem reports coming in from the larger wikis. We don't have any tools to accommodate something like this well. Ajraddatz (Talk) 22:30, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
I was mostly worried smaller wikis, not German and Franch and the like. But thanks anyway. --MarkAHershberger(talk) 02:45, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] How to join?

SWMT How to submit claims? -- Velimir Ivanovic talk 07:38, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

"claims"? I don't know what you want to claim, but you can add your name to the list and get busy. Seb az86556 (talk) 09:45, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
The member list is at Template:SWMT-Members, you can just add yourself, it really doesn't mean anything :) Generally, one the most used avenues of Small Wiki Monitoring are the irc channel #cvn-sw and its sister channel #cvn-newpages on freenode. Snowolf How can I help? 09:49, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Global Deletion Process

Is there scope to develop a global deletion process for non-notable articles present on several small wikis ? The deletion process would only apply for wikis on the SWMT list. Amqui (talk) 20:28, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Bot feature requests

I just created three bugs for frequently noted nuisances of the bots [1] [2] [3]. --MF-W 20:26, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
