Anonymity[edit]

I just wanted to raise the issue of anonymity. Sj mooted the possibility of a "great survey merging", (on my talk page) and I think it's a great idea to tie together different inquiries going on as an ongoing evaluation of Wikipedia. But, after clarification by one interviewee and following relatively standard practice, I promised anonymity to everyone I sent my questionnaire to, unless they specifically wanted to be named or associated with the research. Two users have posted their answers to the meta link I gave in the main page here, so obviously don't mind their part being public, but if we then go and try to make other data public without having got permission, it does seem to violate ethics. Or maybe that's not what Sj was proposing? But basically, we have to think, before we construct our inquiry, how it will be used throughout it's life. And if we are to collaborate on this, we'll need to put our heads together. And ok, if it's going to be different research all being fed into this project, I have to ask again, is this the place for it, and does it violate no_original_research? Nothing seems to have happened here for ten years. I propose deletion. Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 05:48, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
