Blocks - distance[edit]

Re "We will probably be housed in Founders Hall, which depending upon any overlapping events has room for about 700 guests, and is located only a few blocks from the NYU Washington Square Campus area." I'm afraid block is not a measure of distance that has an easy precise translation, and few is little more precise. Are we talking 3 x 100 metre blocks or 8 x 400 metre blocks? More prosaically are we talking about a short walk or a bus ride and if the latter what are the options bus frequencies etc? I suppose we also ought to know about safety, if this is a walkable distance is it a safe place to walk? WereSpielChequers 16:36, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To make it clearer, I've started a Wikimania NYC googlemap. The distance is quite walkable, and it is a safe area (and NYC as a whole is actually the safest large city in the US).--Pharos 23:14, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image that after 10 years your city could possibly a host![edit]

@Pharos: Though the power of technology, 10 years later, no one could image that this could be a possibility! A virtual Wikimania, a co-host! I hope that the plans you kept in the closet would be in use again, in a virtual setup! --Exec8 (talk) 11:55, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
