Starting the Chapter

The project hasn't been advancing since August past year. I think we should give up the idea of a Headquarter for a while till we grow enough to create one. The Bylaws are the minimum requirement for the Chapter. I think all interested people should meet before Ramadan to Discuss how this would work. Diaa abdelmoneim -- 15:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Well this would help a lot. I think we can't afford a headquarters so it would be online based till we have enough members to have an office. Would the Egyptian laws conform with this? If possible could u create a draft at Wikimedia Egypt/Proposed by-laws ? With some references to the Egyptian law? --Diaa abdelmoneim 22:03, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Input needed for Wikimedia strategic plan

Hi everyone, as you all may know Wikimeida is in the midst of its strategic planning process (see http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page for more information). As part of this process, I have been developing a fact base on Middle East and North African languages and their Wikipedias. The purpose of this fact base is to help the Wikimedia community understand the importance of these languages as they develop strategies to expand the reach of Wikimedia worldwide as well as to discuss the specific barriers to growth of these language projects. If any of you are also editors of any of the Middle East and North African language Wikipedias, I would really appreciate it if you took some time to look at what I've put together and make any changes or additions that you thought were appropriate. It would be especially great if anyone had some thoughts or ideas to add to the section on barriers to growth of Middle East and North African language Wikipedias. I want to make sure that we have the most accurate information possible to inform the strategic plan as it is developed. Introducing WikiAfrica to Wikimedia Egypt

Hi. I am glad to see that Egypt is starting a WikiMedia Chapter. I am running the WikiAfrica project on WIkipedia, and I wonder if you could give me the names of the members who are driving the bid to become a recognised Chapter? I would like to contact them and introduce them to WikiAfrica, and what we are trying to achieve. I think it would be beneficial to all of us if we could work together.
