Specific tools[edit]

What specific tools do you think ought to be created to lower the barriers to attending in-person meetings? To what extent will this model be applicable in many countries with many different cultures? Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:19, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Technical and cultural expertise is crucial[edit]

There are huge amounts of information getting out to the public in places like http://occupystreams.org . If you're going to pay someone, you should recruit someone who is already broadcasting streams of major protests and has a huge archive of footage, to do the work of curating and indexing the data to become usefully searchable from an encyclopedic POV. Timing is also important - you'll obviously have better luck recruiting people to do this during a lull in Occupy activity than at the height of the season, provided you get someone who has suitably good records. Are you proposing a Wikiwomencamp?[edit]

Hey, of what I could gather you are proposing an annual meetup especially to invite/sustain women editors (though I don't know how). This is something similar to the Wikiwomencamp or Wikichix conferences that happen. I am not sure how this is different. Also, targeting minority editor groups for a conference usually fails because it makes people feel less privileged and 'charity case' like. Noopur28 (talk) 03:48, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

What about targeting all the people who can't join a chapter because there isn't a chapter for them to join? A chapter for the chapterless. MathewTownsend (talk) 19:15, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving[edit]

There are lots of good questions here that would need to be addressed before being considered for a fellowship. At present we're not sure that this project makes sense as a fellowship, or how it would be distinguished from other outreach initiatives underway. I'm archiving the idea for now, but anyone still interested would be welcome to reopen it and continue to develop it in a future open call for fellows.
