Reviewed off-line on October 2, 2013 in light of Massachusetts General Laws Part I, Title XXII, Ch. 180[edit]

In anticipation of a discussion, at the planned October 5 meeting, I have reviewed this document off-line in light of the pertinent Massachusetts statute.

I am ready to discuss my results, at that meeting or elsewhere.

I have not edited this content page, as of today.

I believe there is much to discuss, and probably change, to make these by-laws comply better with the state statute and with our own likely goals. However, I'm concerned that many members of our group would consider this a dry, boring topic of discussion! So, I'm not entirely sure the planned October 5 meeting would be the best venue for such a discussion.

Let me put it this way...although a few sub-topics might be intriguing to everyone (like, "What officers should there be, considering how the law's written?"), I think the majority of sub-topics would not be intriguing to general members (like, "Should this letter be uppercase or lowercase, considering how the law's written?").

Yet both of those examples in parentheses would be judgment calls, subject to reasonable disagreement, based on varying legal interpretations and options.
