Multiple private wikis[edit]

Apart from making more content public, maybe it would be useful to merge all or most private wikis and to give access based on namespaces. (mw:Extension:SimpleSecurity seems to be quite effective.) At least, those who currently have access to more than one private wiki would be able to check only one recentschanges page. --Nemo 12:31, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've been told that mw:Extension:Lockdown may have some missing features but certainly ensures that no data is leaked to users who're not supposed to see it. It would probably be the best choice. More context on my proposal from the discussion mentioned below: [1] [2] plus [3] [4]. --Nemo 08:10, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are we re-purposing Internal?[edit]

There was a mailing list thread on Wikimedia-L earlier this year in April whereby it was suggested that we use internal wiki more - and a number of people voiced their opinions as to whether it should be closed or re-purposed. I've not seen anything about this since April (and my follow up email at the end of May had no response), so I'm posting here on wiki - can anyone provide an update as to what the current status is? Thanks! Thehelpfulone 21:34, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore does anyone have suggestions as to how we could go about reviewing the content on the other wikis (both public and private) to be merged back into the bigger wikis (Meta etc?). Thehelpfulone 00:05, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There's been no progress I'm aware of. It seems to me there is just no energy around this -- nobody cares enough to change the status quo. Asaf Bartov (WMF Grants) talk 19:21, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As you volunteered for grantswiki: just do it. Nobody will stop you from importing pages on Meta (or Internal) and when everything is deleted/duplicated on grantswiki it will be trivial to get it closed. --Nemo 21:20, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I realize that. I was just making my commitment public. That said, this is far from the top of my list of priorities, so it may take a while before I find an hour to devote to it. Also, I don't actually have access to the grantswiki yet -- it's been used before my time -- and I haven't been given access yet. Asaf Bartov (WMF Grants) talk 21:26, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response Asaf. I'm going away at the end of this week but I'll be happy to help where I can with any importing/exporting of documents across wikis when I get back - do you know where we can start? I can poke someone to request access to grantswiki for you if you'd like? Thehelpfulone 13:03, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Something happened.[5] --Nemo 14:26, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I got access in the meantime, and it turns out it's a ridiculously tiny wiki, less than 50 pages alled[sic], and mostly useless, even historically speaking, so I'll be able to finish it some time this week, with spare cycles here and there. officewiki's own cluster[edit]

It seems WMF staff plans to make their work (their wiki) even more insular: mw:Wikimedia MediaWiki Core Team/Backlog#Dedicated cluster for private/closed wikis. --Nemo 05:54, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering why not add this. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 00:46, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Loginwiki?[edit]

I know it exists, but I wouldn't know where to put it. –MJLTalk 18:47, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
