Talk:Wikinews/RSS

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Journalwiki also has an intreasted feed that can be customized by different categories etc as a cool special page. But it seems to have dissapeared - http://journowiki.org/w/index.php/Special:Syndicationfeed Bawolff 23:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the current RSS implementation at http://feeds.feedburner.com/WikinewsLatestNews, the "guid" each article is given is based on the story title, which means that if an article changes title, RSS readers will treat it as a completely different article, which leads to duplicated entries in the "inbox".

Here is an example: <guid isPermaLink="false">http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Iran_tests_second_missle%2C_plans_more_tests</guid>

It would be better if this guid would remain constant once an article has been created.

Seconding this!! I just dropped my wikinews RSS for this reason, which is a shame, because other than that problem it's the only news feed that fits my needs. 72.72.196.175 03:43, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Both http://toolserver.org/~zach/cgi-bin/rss.cgi and http://toolserver.org/~cspurrier/rss/rss.php?lang=en&family=wikinews are no longer available on toolserver, they are showing that the accounts have expired. Sjbrower64 14:11, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
