Interested in updating the main page [edit]

An update to the main language portal has been recently discussed at the English Wikibooks' staff lounge. (See sections titled Wikibooks language portal and Addendum to Wikibooks language portal.) I and another user are interested in updating the page with an image like unto the one on the Wikipedia language portal. I edited the test page. I made the sizing 240x50 so that it would be a bit taller. Any comments are welcome. — Iamunknown 07:04, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

I Think it would be good. Gubb

How can we see the result? Effeietsanders 11:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
There are two ways:
  1. Follow the instructions at /temp
  2. Make a .html file on your computer, copy and paste the text into it, and view it in your browser
I think either of these should work. If not, please ask for clarification! — Iamunknown 19:49, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
I thinks it's all ok! :) However, i thought you need to update the modules #... an exemple, the portuguese project has 3000+ modules, not 2400+...--Lightningspirit 23:36, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
We do need to update the portal. And this is now where to do it. (I think it used to be on the English Wikibooks.) I'll try to find how many modules each project has, update them, and then ask an admin.
Also, has anyone else noticed that a simple search in the searchbox, in any language, at http://www.wikibooks.org/ directs you to Wikipedia, not Wikibooks, in that language? I bet that'll have to be taken to the developers.
And finally, I wish that this process was both more well-known and more streamlined. It took me forever to find this page and, as you all can see, it is taking a while to coordinate updating it. I think it might be nice to establish a central Wikibooks Embassy or something to that effect. But in the meantime, thanks for coming here — Iamunknown 06:45, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Update [edit]

I updated the stats from the Wikibooks around the circle (de, en, es, fr, he, hu it, nl, pl, pt). I tried to get the right numbers, but correct me if I'm wrong. I also moved the Japanese Wikibooks to the +1,000 category because it is there now. And finally, I moved all the other Wikibooks around to alphabetically organise them by their ISO code. What needs to be done, though, that has not yet been done, is to add the new Wikibooks to +100 that are not already there ... and clean up on anything I missed or messed up on — Iamunknown 07:44, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Croatian Wikibooks request [edit]

A request has been posted on the en.wikibooks main talk page from an ambassador from the Croatian wikibooks. Apparently that project has over 100 pages now and needs to be updated on this page. I dont want to make the change myself (if i even have permission) because i would probably mess it up. However, would somebody else mind making the change? --Whiteknight 18:31, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Finnish wikibooks reached 1000 pages [edit]

So, as the headline says: Wikibooks has now over 1100 pages, so this page should be changed. --62.236.100.238 06:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Simple English Wikibooks [edit]

{{editprotected}} Simple English Wikibooks has been closed and ought to be removed from the listing (100+ section). -- Adrignola 20:41, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Dutch translation needed [edit]

The Dutch Wikibooks is now in the top ten, so the portal needs a translation of "Open-content textbooks" and "modules". --Yair rand 06:46, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Update in TOP10 [edit]

Done there: Www.wikibooks.org_template/temp - according to Wikibooks/Table. MonteChristof 15:22, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Is Wikibooks still using number of pages instead of pageviews? Anyway, if you don't change the position (e.g. style="top: 60%; left: 6%;") the order won't change. Can you fix it? --Nemo 08:25, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Done. Huh, I forgot about the positions, just missed it. Thanx for your attention. Hmm - with that pageviews I'm not quite sure about that. BTW. I think comparing Wikibooks using pageviews needs toolserver with those stats - and I thought it was abandoned about 5 years ago... But accoring to Alexa statistics, for now:

By Alexa By wikistats/visits
  1. en.wikibooks.org 41.3%
  2. de.wikibooks.org 15.7%
  3. es.wikibooks.org 8.7%
  4. fr.wikibooks.org 7.4%
  5. pt.wikibooks.org 4.1%
  6. ru.wikibooks.org 3.4%
  7. zh.wikibooks.org 3.1%
  8. pl.wikibooks.org 2.9%
  9. it.wikibooks.org 2.8%
  10. ja.wikibooks.org 2.5%
  1. 15,626 en.wikibooks.org
  2. 5,927 de.wikibooks.org
  3. 3,644 es.wikibooks.org
  4. 3,014 fr.wikibooks.org
  5. 2,504 pt.wikibooks.org
  6. 1,716 pl.wikibooks.org
  7. 1,376 ja.wikibooks.org
  8. 1,270 it.wikibooks.org
  9. 978 ru.wikibooks.org
  10. 857 nl.wikibooks.org

But ok - I'll make it acorring to http://stats.wikimedia.org/wikibooks/EN/Sitemap.htm

P.S. Isn't there any automaded script that would update it automatically? - MonteChristof 22:30, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, we use WikiStats. There's no script I'm aware of, and in fact even now the portal doesn't look very well, and I had to move Spanish because of the longer tagline that covered the logo... Someone should rearrange them a bit, they're currently not circular at all. --Nemo 20:43, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Turkish wikibooks to pass 1000 pages [edit]

Hi, Turkish Wikibooks has recently passed the 1000 pages. Could you please update the portal. --Joseph 19:49, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Updating [edit]

The template needs updating, because number of pages of the wikis has changed. MGFE Júnior.

Limburgish [edit]

Error in nl-text [edit]

The text under Nederlands + Leerboeken says: 5400+ faqe. "faqe"is not a Dutch word. Instead it should be "pagina's". Who can fix that for me? Romaine 03:33, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Missing translations for ru.wiktionary [edit]

Per your Talk:Project portals, I've updated the general structure. However it appears a few new languages are now up in the portal. For most of them the translation for "Open-content textbooks" and "textbooks" was in the history of the page. But the caption for the Russian Wiktionary is still missing. Could someone add that? –Krinkletalk 14:35, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Request: add Chinese Wikibooks to 1000+ project on wikibooks.org homepage [edit]

With the hard working of many people, now Chinese Wikibooks project has more than 1300 books. This is a milestone for Chinese Wikibooks. So please add Chinese Wikibooks to the 1000+ project list on homepage of wikibooks.org. It will be a good gift for all its contributors. Thanks.--Guoyunhebrave (talk) 04:15, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
