Compare "{{CURRENTDOW|=}}" gives "Template:CURRENTDOW" [1]. This template returns 1 (Monday) up to 7 (Sunday) for an ISO 8601 day of the week. CURRENTDOW uses 0 for Sunday, apart from that the default result of MJD2DOW is identical to the result of CURRENTDOW.

The used formula does not depend on -5 mod 7 being -5 or 2, or -2.5 round 0 being -2 or -3.
