Abstract[edit]

This presentation will provide case studies on wiki use within Enterprises for project communication, intranets, extranets and developing Wikipedia-like knowledge bases within an organizational context. While the case studies are based upon Socialtext's 100 customers -- this session will focus on practices, not tools. What drives adoption? What is the value proposition of an enterprise wiki? What works, and what doesn't? How does wiki use contrast with and complement existing enterprise systems? Wikis have demonstrated properties of collaboration at an unprecedented scale, how might they change business competitiveness and culture? How can Wikimedia as an organization learn from the practices arising within enterprises for wiki use?
