Hi everybody! My educational background leads to a triple fascination about Wikipedia and all of its sub-projects: the sociological and psychological phenomenon, that lots of people are working virtually together with far less problems than one could expect the informatic phenomenon, that this collaboration can be handeled technically. the pedagogic phenomenon, that this knowledge-work seems to be (and is indead) fun. [Actually it's strange, that school isn't the funniest place on earth... :>] As a cognitive psychologist I work in a ressort that researches the way how human process information, which problems are involved and how this processing could made being easier. As a informatics-freak I puzzle my brain about how this concepts can be implemented. That's how I stumbled over cognitive mapping, semantic webs and all this stuff. There are fixed schemes how text-information is trasformed into human neuronal signal-patterns which represent knowledge and semantic relations are very much involved into this process. That's why I'd like to participate in the Semantic MediaWiki-Project, because I believe, that text is a human invention like automatic automatic egg shell-peelers and there's a lot to do to improve this invention ;-> - by the way: I believe there is much more possible than only to investigate a list of "at least 20 years old russian tennis-players"... If you are able to read german texts and if you'd like to know more about my concept, I would be glad' if you'd flick through my diploma-work.
