I know English and some Maori. I also have a grounding in French, German, and Spanish. I can translate Scots because of its similarity to English, and I can also translate Tok Pisin, but it can be difficult if you don't know some words which don't sound like their English counterparts. I know some Indonesian, and I can read Japanese kana but not kanji.
Things that really get on my nerves
- The outcome of the Schapelle Corby case
- Anti-disability words like "retard" and "spastic"
- Lengthy political or religious discussions
- Leetspeak (which, in a complicated form, comes out as |_3€-|-5|º£4|<)
