P-bot@zh-classicalwiki[edit]

Hello, it seems that there is some misunderstanding, thus I explain here.

I am not the operator of the bot, since I am the sysop of Classical Chinese Wikipedia, I help him to request at here after the end of the vote only. And it has been voted for a week, which was started at 1-July by the owner zh-classical:User:PhiLiP, finally, we have accepted the application by a 2:0 ratio. Thus it is not meaningful to wait one more week, thanks for your understanding!--Itsmine 18:32, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I have seen your comment there and answered. --Thogo (talk) 18:35, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Access[edit]

When will I get an access? Main page, infoboxes and templates are not protected. Can't edit Link FA etc. How many hours of my time has been wasted on this? Will I still waste hours again on requesting access if I only get a temp access? --Filipinayzd 15:22, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Seems to be done. Such things are discussed on SRP, not here. --Thogo (talk) 07:44, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Removal of my sysop access in Malay Wikipedia (edmundwoods@mswiki)[edit]

Hello, why did you desysop me in the Malay Wikipedia? Nobody has requested to desysop me. --אדמוןד ואודס自分の投稿記録 04:16, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

You are convicted of vandalizing mswiki and other wikis with vandal accounts and creating insulting and imposting accounts on multiple projects. Other people warned you several times before. --Thogo (talk) 07:43, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

But stewards cannot interfere our local administration unless you're asked to do so. Or else please show me the rule and regulation saying that you're allowed to do so. If not I resign myself, then there must be a local consensus agreeing that I should be desysopped. In fact, now the Malay Wikipedia is having a local consensus among the admins to decide my adminship. --אדמוןד ואודס自分の投稿記録 15:09, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

As the matter of fact, your account should have been blocked indefinitely for vandalism and creating attack accounts on different Wikimedia projects, and I personally believe that it still should be done unless there is a good reason to believe that such abuse will not be repeated. MaxSem(Han shot first!) 18:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Administration is "different" from blatant vandalism and sockpuppet abuse. Really different. Stewards are always sought for help in those cases. --M/ 18:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Stewards are empowered to act when there is clear and present danger of serious disruption to the projects. Using admin powers to further vandalism is such a situation. I support the emergency desysop in this case. If the outcome of the community discussion is to restore, that will be interesting. I would expect it would not be. ++Lar: t/c 19:28, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
In the case where the stewards have access to private information not available to the user community, I believe the stewards have a responsibility to act based on that information to protect the project. This is not a case where a steward would be judging the quality of someone's adminship (blocks, protects, deletes) but acting to protect the project from a known vandal. Handing the delete button in particular to a known vandal would be completely irresponsible. If the local community chooses to ignore the vandalism and confirm his administrator status, I believe it would be within the steward's right to deny granting it. If this would be too controversial or if keeping to the letter of some policy is deemed more important than common sense, I suggest that since Edmund has been vandalizing other projects as well, his global account can be indefinitely blocked as a vandalism account. And if he uses his sysop to unblock himself, that by itself is grounds for removal. Thatcher 13:06, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Absolutely. This is not a decision of the local community of ms.wiki anymore, this user vandalized other wmf-projects as well. He was kindly asked in private after the first known vandalism on his home project to stop his doings, he obviously continued not only there but spread to other projects as well. The emergency desysop was the only right decision in that case. A block of this user might be worth discussing. --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:46, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
P.S. Note, that the local community on ms.wiki might not be aware of his vandalic acts on other projects. --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 11:47, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
obviously, I agree and I support you--Nick1915 - all you want 11:58, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
As a sysop in ms Wiki, I wasn't really aware of him vandalizing in other wiki projects. Until recently, I was only aware of his wrong doings in our community, involving personal matters with a fellow user there as well. - Pp.Mm.Cc. 14:39, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Block[edit]

Cross wiki spammer for your info - they should not have been able to place the link as I blacklisted it a little earlier (they placed it on Commons). Cheers --Herby talk thyme 09:33, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. Nothing found in my usual wikis. Is it an OP? --Thogo (talk) 10:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
No rdns & short on time however this suggest a fairly ordinary IP I guess. I think the BL took 5/10 minutes to kick in but at least they did not disrupt too much. Regards --Herby talk thyme 11:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. So no block across wikis. ;) --Thogo (talk) 11:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Just to keep You informed, in case You ever wondered[edit]

Hello, Thogo. A belated thank You for Your answer here. About Your extremely well taken concern, yes, of course I had notified Mr. Wales before my post. After that, the bee in my bonnet flew away, I took no further action, and did not revisit the thread.

Updated status report: Today I renewed my original request on Mr. Wales' talk page here. If that gets no result, I plan to drop the matter altogether. (No reply expected. If it turns out You have any comments, please let me know on my talk page, thanks much. :-))

Kindest regards, Snakesteuben 19:40, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh yes, thank you. --Thogo (talk) 22:26, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
