Superprotect letter update[edit]

Hi Beria,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:16, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Global CSS/JS migration[edit]

Hello Béria. You have a global.js page which contains your global scripts for all wikis. Since August 19th, your global.js and global.css pages are loaded automatically on all wikis (see announcement). Since you already load your Meta common.js yourself on many wikis (see example), you may experience script errors or issues like tools being added twice. I can fix that for you by merging your local scripts and styles into your global pages, and deleting the local pages with synchbot. Do you want me to do that? —Pathoschild 18:26, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Regarding your offering to fix my Global.js: PLEASE!!! :D Do fix it, and thank you for offering :D Béria Lima msg 21:40, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Will do. I'll let you know here when it's done. :) —Pathoschild 00:41, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you again Pathoschild :D Béria L. de Rodríguez msg 10:17, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
I did this a couple of weeks ago. You can see the full log on your archive page. :) —Pathoschild 02:38, 02 November 2014 (UTC)

Att.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 22:27, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Acho que o jeito é reverter, pois ficou sem sentido.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 23:42, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to the Grant Advisory Committee[edit]

Hi Beria,
Thanks for signing up to join the Grant Advisory Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We've got a lot to accomplish together and it will be awesome to have your help. Here's how to get started:

To make your membership official, please do two things by January 23rd.

  1. Introduce yourself in the IdeaLab.
  2. Send your email address and preferred username to awang at wikimedia.org, so that I can subscribe you to the committee mailing list.

Then there are two initial tasks for active committee members to start on right away:

  1. Read the information in the Committee Workroom (your committee organizing hub on meta), beginning with the getting started guide for new members.
  2. Start reviewing open ideas, drafts and proposals to familiarize yourself with current and past discussions. Feel free to comment now or wait until we've done orientation.

I will be sending out an orientation email to new members this coming week, so please keep an eye out!

Thanks again for joining us to help make impactful Project and Event Grants :-) Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 01:24, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Picture of the Year banner campaign[edit]

Hi! I'm coming here from a discussion on the English Wikipedia, in which it was noted that it's very hard to close the Picture of the Year banner in its current state. The blue "Close" link (which is only appearing as a fallback, since the image the link should be pointing to is missing) is nearly invisible against the blue background. Would it be possible to edit the code for the ad so that the link is more visible? For instance, it could have a background color set (e.g. white at 50% alpha or something). APerson (talk) 16:01, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Another issue about "POTY_2014_R1" campaign[edit]

Please convert text of banner into translatable text strings (replace calling MediaWiki:Centralnotice-poty2010 round2 1-poty2010-text-1 and MediaWiki:Centralnotice-poty2010 round2 1-poty2010-text-2 to {{{text-1}}} and {{{text-2}}} and filling apropriate fields). See also question in commons:Commons talk:Picture of the Year/2014/Translations. Thanks! --Kaganer (talk) 17:50, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Done! If you have any translations Kaganer, just tell me and i will upload them. Béria L. de Rodríguez msg 13:11, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
This way is not required sysop rights ;) Russian translation is done. --Kaganer (talk) 17:44, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Great! New stuff always gets me like that. Béria L. de Rodríguez msg 21:24, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
