India[edit]

Hi Barry. You didn't address this directly - perhaps, because as I stated, it was a little off topic. The concerns are however quite real. --Kudpung (talk) 03:10, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Kudpung, I do not to respond to messages that do not Assume Good Faith. A statement that includes "possible installation of a scape-goat organisation" is plainly an assumption of bad faith. It is disrespectful and fails to look at the totality of what we are trying to do in support of the community in India. I suggest you reflect on your message and rephrase the question in a manner that respects the fact that we are all working hard to make a positive contribution to the Wikimedia mission. --Barry Newstead (WMF) (talk) 05:22, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No Barry, even if my words were ill chosen, I'm reiterating some of the sentiments expressed by the community. My good faith is that I am still working hard to further some of the Wikimedia Foundation philosophies and projects that you represent and/or are in charge of. I spent 200 hours in three weeks initially leading, and then working on the clean up of the ill-fated IEP experiment and before I volunteer any more of my time, energy, and money on motivating other-language Wikipedias towards a positive contribution here in Asia, I feel that some requests for reassurance are valid. --Kudpung (talk) 08:12, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

bunyips and drop bears[edit]

Saw your note to wikimedia-l. Future welcome to the land of the bunyip and the drop bear! — billinghurst sDrewth 15:33, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Look forward to the new adventure and the opportunity to expand my vocabulary. Luckily, I know this cool website where I can find out what a bunyip and a drop bear are. ;) --Barry Newstead (WMF) (talk) 16:52, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, and as you are arriving coming into summer, you can get your head into cricket, and then have 6 months to look to pick your football team (depending on which state will determine your flavour of footy) and then face derision from others for your poor choice. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:02, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
