The Gadget GoogleTrans in id.wp has been updated thanks to the quick response of User:Albertus Aditya. I only have IE6 so I can't check it. Based on the fact that I was not an admin at that time, would you reconsider your vote? Thanks. Bennylin 09:21, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Aboriginal language wikipedias[edit]

Hi Endo, if you want to come and have a chat one day - I work at the National Library so I'm easy to find for Canberrans!

As for Australian Aboriginal Language Wikipedia editions.... There's quite a few tricky aspects to that - and the fact of specific cultural privacy practices is definitely one of them. Another reason is, unlike the Maori Wikipedia there isn't just one language (which splits the potential audience/contributor base) and furthermore the entire language heritage is oral, not written. Wikimedia Australia had been discussing if there was anything that could be proactively done about this quite a while ago but it's a big task that we're just not up to being able to achieve at this point.

From a practical standpoint there is lots of (relatively) easy scope for adding lexicon and word-lists from various Aboriginal languages to WikiSource. Equally, if there is a community who DOES want to start a language edition then they need to go to the "Incubator" first, and demonstrate the viability of their project. Hope that helps, Wittylama (talk) 06:57, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
