Hi![edit]

Hi JMathewson (WMF),

I'm updating the Staff and contractors page on the Foundation wiki and have linked your name to your user account here, on Meta. Therefore, please can you create your userpage with a short biography and other introductory information about yourself and the work you do. (Feel free to look at other user pages for examples.)

Please let me know on my talk page when you have done this so that I can update the link for your username.

Thanks,

The Helpful One 17:12, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Ambassadors[edit]

Hi Jami. :-) Thanks for your talk page message on the English Wikipedia. It sounds like a fantastic project but I'm reluctant to commit anything due to a number of changes that are going on throughout the year. While I'm still active I will often be away at short notice, or not be around when I may be needed. However, I'd be very happy to help on a casual basis if needed. Your input is requested[edit]

Hi Jami, I was linked to your page from this discussion on my talk page. I would appreciate your input into this discussion, being that you "coordinate the Wikipedia Education Program in the US and Canada." It would seem to me that the Wikipedia Education Program is an excellent grass-roots, entry-level place to begin educating new editors about NPOV, systemic bias, and having a global perspective when editing articles. Towards this end, I simply suggested that the notice on the Verizon FiOS talk page be reworded to remove mention of the word "Fall" as it is inconsistent with users from the Southern Hemisphere, where fall, (or autumn), is reversed. This seemed to me like a fairly inconsequential request and simple to apply, yet this whole discussion has snowballed. I invited one of your ambassadors, Kevin Rutherford, (who originally granted the course instructor right on Professor Leshed's account) to participate in the discussion, but he seems to be equally of the opinion that systemic bias on Wikipedia is unimportant.

I am appealing to you, at the advice of Professor Leshed herself, to be a voice of reason in this discussion. I am sure that the Wikimedia Foundation itself is doing everything it can to reduce the impact of systemic bias in its projects, and I applaud initiatives such as the upcoming Wikimedia Diversity Conference which address this issue. Kind regards, AugurNZ 10:00, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please visit this user's talk page, go to the "Wikibreak" section, and tell them not to be discouraged by this. PiRSquared17 (talk) 23:51, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
