Aug 7 : retroactively caused bad article not to have been created in the first place. +sj+
The Russian spambot attacked en:PHP at 07:39 using the uni.cc domain that is supposed to be spamfiltered.
Is it possible that your edits at 07:32–07:33 caused this? It's hard to see how, since it's still listed in Spam blacklist, but could you check? Thanks. -- Curps 08:16, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- There is (was) a bug with the blacklist not updating immediately. I've fixed this and also re-instated Silsor's change that I removed because of a previous bug. Should be fine now - let me know if it's not.
Live RC [edit]
Hi, when you will update serbian translatation to Live RC? Link is here. Thanks --Sasa Stefanovic 10:21, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
Toolserver [edit]
- crossposted from User talk:Who
are you sure Toolserver belongs in Category:MediaWiki Development? it's really more related to Wikipedia and other WM projects than MediaWiki. kate.
Yea, I did consider that. I placed it there to unorphan it until I could come up with a better cat. Also, I figured some of the stuff being tested might influence MediaWiki architecture, if that's definately not the case, then we could put it in Category:Wikipedia for now instead. ∞Who?¿? 21:39, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

auto-wikifier [edit]
I provide a list of which words it never wikifies in my language. Auto-wikify is cool, long texts with {{wikify}} can be auto-wikify and stay better visual. LeonardoGregianin 15:19, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
typo corrected? [edit]
I changed your entry of 2007-Jan-04 because it contained a typo (imho), please check here --Purodha Blissenbach 10:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Hint on User:EdmundMielach/FileProtocolLinks [edit]
Many thanks for your hint on the possible XSS vulnerability of the User:EdmundMielach/FileProtocolLinks extension. I tried to fix it, but perhaps you can have a look on it again as I'm not a PHP programmer ;) --EdmundMielach 15:25, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
Toolserver upgrade? [edit]
I've been told by several people on en:Wikipedia that the toolserver has been very unstable of late and keeps crashing, making it almost unusable. I've also heard that "they" (whoever "they" are!) are getting a new/replacement server. Is this true? If not, is a new one needed? We were hoping to use the toolserver to help us select articles for the next offline release from en (called Version 0.7. Can you let me know what's happening? Thanks, Walkerma 19:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- there are several issues with the toolserver. the ones that probably affect you are a) text is not available, only metadata, and b) replication of en.wikipedia effectively stopped several months ago.
- a might be resolved when i find some time to plan it, and make sure we have enough disk space (there's a lot of text).
- b will be fixed by adding a new database server; the hardware is there, but we (toolserver administrators) are waiting for us (wikimedia foundation) to purchase/install a new switch, since right now there are no spare switchports at that location to install the server.
- i don't know what "unstable" is about. mysqld crashes occasionally (this should be fixed when the new server arrives) but i'd hardly call it unusable. Kate
-
- Thank you for getting back to me, this is very helpful. Metadata is in fact what we need - and lots of it! The en replication may be more of an issue for us. Regarding "unstable", I was referring to things like the comment "In terms of progress here - I'm going as quickly as I can, but am getting problems with the toolserver databases crashing every 10 minutes" found at en:Wikipedia_talk:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team/MartinBotII#bot_and_reviewing. Also see this discussion relating to similar problems with a different bot. I'm not exactly sure what a switchport is, but can we buy another switch? If so, which person at WMF would authorize that? From our side, Delphine is the WMF person overseeing the offline release projects. Many thanks, Walkerma 03:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

-
- the purchase order for the new switch has been approved by the board, we're just waiting for the order to go through (then of course someone has to install it at the site). i'm not sure how long it'll take, perhaps a month in total. Kate

- Hello again. I know you're probably busy with election stuff right now, but I was just wondering if you had any news on the switch. Is it working yet? Thanks, and good luck, Walkerma 20:11, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

- yes, it was installed yesterday and the new server (for enwiki) is being set up now. barring any unexpected problems (of course, there will be at least one) it should be ready soon. Kate
- Wonderful news! (Question - if you expect an unexpected problem, it can't be unexpected - does that mean it won't happen?!) Thanks a lot, Walkerma 14:50, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

I suppose it should read this way. BTW, you've won a nomination for "Best Board candidate picture". --Snowdog 22:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Toolserver tutorial [edit]
Kate, I was thinking your changes [1] were not really necessary. tools.wiki... is much easier to memorize, and there is no benefit in using the other domain name, that I know. Am I missing something? Huji 15:22, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Error while changing username [edit]
I'm a bureaucrat on ca.wiki. Could you help me with a problem I've explained at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat#Error renaming a username on ca.wiki? Thanks. --Vriullop 17:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

But on some articles like this it is visible and other articles like this is not visible.

Gatchaman [edit]
I have made some addition Gatchaman pages to distinguish them from one one another I feel a template needs to be made also. Dwanyewest (talk) 01:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Plus I feel Eagle Riders and Gatchaman II should be redirected to their respective pages as the main title rather than been redirected to Science Ninja Team Gatchaman
- sorry, i have no idea what you're talking about. Kate

WM UK v2.0 board [edit]
Hi! Thanks for volunteering for the Wikimedia UK v2.0 board. We've made a page for candidate statements, so please add yours here, and sign the declaration (it's quite long and scary-looking, I know, but being on a board is a serious thing!). The proposed deadline for statements is 13 September, but we'll make a final deadline soon. Good luck! --Tango 02:39, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
WM UK docs - thanks! [edit]
Thanks for tidying up the mem and arts, I've been meaning to get around to that! Now we can actually start discussing what we need to change about them. --Tango 09:41, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
User rights [edit]
Per policy, your user rights have been removed here. Thank you for your service. Majorly talk 15:26, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- what policy? the link you gave in the log is a non-existent page. Kate
- The link was deleted for some reason, I've recreated it. The policy on Meta:Administrators asks for 10 or more logged actions over 6 months. Any fewer than this is deemed inactive. Majorly talk 13:55, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
