Please Unblock Me[edit]

I made a page کوني in Pashto Wikipedia and you blocked me forever without any reason or any warning. Adjutor102 (talk) 20:56, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Me too; I was also blocked because of your possible homophobic stance Lewaal101 (talk) 21:00, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing like homophobic stance. I know it is a reality that homosexuality exists in every country and every society whether legal or illegal. Its a very sensitive issue in some societies. The reason you are blocked is that you misuse your rights as an editor and you publish and promote vulgar words for Gay which is not the proper use of language and other thing is I cant just allow your self made neologisms be published as standard words. Show me a book with the term (همنوږپالنه) in use in that, then I will consider it not your own word but a word that is adopted or made for homosexuality.--Khangul (talk) 22:24, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This barnstar is given to you for your help with the 2011 fundraiser translation.

Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.

And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.

Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 13:31, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Khangul
thanks for the heads-up and for letting me know about the incorrect logo. Unfortunately and shamefully, I cannot speak any Arabic at all, and I didn't know that the joining of letters in that language is different depending on their location. All what I did with the logo was to copy the text that was provided by someone else, and I didn't notice that the font that was chosen for the logo (Lucida Grande) changed the joining.

However, following your advice, I created a corrected version of the logo and uploaded it temporarily here. Please let me know whether this logo is correct, and if so, I will upload it to Wikimedia Commons, overwriting the current logo of Pashto Wiktionary, so there is no need for assistance from a Wikimedia developer. Thanks in advance for your help, odder (talk) 23:14, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your logo made here is with the correct text--Khangul (talk) 03:01, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ready for translation: VisualEditor News #2—2015[edit]

Hi! This is an invitation to join translators working on the April's issue of the VisualEditor monthly newsletter, which will be widely delivered towards the end of next week. The previous bulletin was published in 26 languages—the translation was completed only for ten of them. Will we do better this month? We'd like to reach many more communities in their own language this time, as VE recently became the main editor at other 50+ Wikipedias, and we're announcing interesting developments (auto-fill features for citations, improved special character inserter, drag and drop for categories, invisible templates now marked by a puzzle piece icon, and more). Thanks a lot for your help! Elitre (WMF) 22:38, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Here are some instructions. Please go to the translation page: your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones. If you need further help or would like to change the page where you're notified of future translations, please contact me directly.

Re:[edit]

Hi, I never blocked you nor you're currently blocked. --Vituzzu (talk) 16:11, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can see your point but, in short, Wikipedia cannot be censored.
You should find the right trade-off between censorship and exhibitionism: a page about "penis" is supposed to contain some depiction of a penis, a page about pornography isn't.
Regards,
--Vituzzu (talk) 11:49, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Again, there's a thin line between censorship and self-regulation.
The Internet is full of any kind of obscene material so Wikipedia is not definitely not "the" problem for children.
As I already wrote encyclopedic articles about sexual-related matters are supposed to include some depiction which would be definitely inappropriate out of their context.
My suggestion is to start using other long-standing wikipedias as a starting point for elaborating a "wiki concept" of "decency".
--Vituzzu (talk) 15:50, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

...by correcting the list of users who had commented on the page cited by Seendgay.[1]

However, you added two names, User:USMANKHAN, which is not a working user name, and User:PashtoLover who had not commented on that page. The proper user name is User:UsmanKhan. He was listed, but with a non-working user name, User:عثمان. He had signed that way and it confused me. I should have known better, I fixed it.

Perhaps you had in mind that User:Seendgay was a sock of PashtoLover, which was openly admitted. However, the page you commented on was a specific request, and not a place to cover all possible sock puppet allegations.

If you do have similar issues to discuss, you may add a new section to the bottom of that page, but the Seendgay/PashtoLover issue is over, unless PashtoLover starts editing again.

Requests for steward action would not belong in the RfC. Stewards may not be watching that. The general place to request Stewards investigate sock puppetry would be Steward requests/Checkuser, and general requests may be made on Steward requests/Miscellaneous. --Abd (talk) 00:07, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Change to your user page[edit]

[2]. I didn't like seeing this because we normally prefer allowing users to control their own user page. However, it was a change that was appropriate, but you have other choices. It would have been best if you had changed this yourself, first. We probably should have asked you to do that. I assumed you would eventually get to it, or that you might be again an administrator, which is certainly still possible, if the local community agrees.

However, you may replace that text, if you wish, with "I was an administrator on ps.wiki," or whatever is true and not misleading. I recommend keeping it simple and non-controversial.

You were not removed as a decision that you did something wrong. However, events, including what you had done, showed that there was a problem on ps.wiki, and that it was important to establish administration there with high local consensus. That's all. All admins were removed, not just you. Your contributions and experience are important, and we can now move into a larger world of possibilities. Good luck. --Abd (talk) 16:06, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re:[edit]

Ready for translation: VisualEditor News #3—2015[edit]

Hi! This is an invitation to join translators working on the June's issue of the VisualEditor multilingual newsletter, which will be widely delivered at the end of this workweek. You may have noticed that the bulletin is now getting published once every two months more or less, but we're keeping the length manageable ;) Thanks a lot for your help! — Elitre (WMF) 17:41, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PPS: Also, watch out for announcements of the upcoming VE-translathon! Everybody getting this message will be particularly welcome to join that activity during Wikimania.

Thanks a lot for your help with this! Is there a particular page you'd recommend where the newsletter should be delivered? I don't have any page on my target list for ps.wiki (and would gladly deliver there manually at any point, if you'd like to finish the translation first). Best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 10:12, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Early invitation: join VisualEditor's 2015 Translathon[edit]

Hello!

You are invited to join the 2nd edition of the VisualEditor Translathon! It is a translation rally, focused on interface messages and help pages related to VisualEditor.

In order to participate, you need to sign up on the Translathon page. The top 3 contributors will each win a Wikipedia t-shirt of their choice from the Wikipedia store.[1] Translations made between July 15th and July 19th (CDT time zone) qualify.[2]

If you are attending Wikimania Mexico this year, you are also welcome to join a related sprint during the Hackathon in Workplace 1 - Don Américo, Thursday 16 July at 4:00 p.m (CDT) at the conference venue, so you can meet other fellow translators and get support if you need some.

Interface messages have the priority. You will need to create an account at translatewiki.net in order to work on them, if you don't have one. It is recommended to create the account ASAP, so that it can be manually confirmed in time.

You can also help translate documentation pages about VisualEditor on mediawiki.org. You can use your Wikipedia account there. You will find instructions, links and other details on the Translathon page.

Thanks for your attention, and happy translating! Elitre (WMF) 02:59, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  1. You can choose between any short-sleeve shirt, or other items for the same value.
  2. This means both new translations, and updates for messages in the "Outdated" tab of the translation interface.

PPS: We are maintaining a list of editors who have worked on VE-related content (such as newsletters). We only use it to notify them of translation opportunities, to make sure they don't miss Translathons, etc. If you would like messages like this one to be delivered on your talk page at a different WMF project, need any help with translations related to VisualEditor or would like to remove your name from that list, please contact me directly.
