Idea[edit]

Answer to your question: I think best is you start with describing your idea ;-) --Elian 13:30, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

unified brilliant prose[edit]

Hi Kpjas,

your idea is brilliant and I strongly support it. Do you think we can combine it with the idea of List of articles all languages should have? Yours, -- Mathias Schindler 18:48, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

This would be a great thing to mention in the current newsletter. Could you help me identify a list of 10-15 superb articles from across the projects? I tried something like this a long time ago at Goings-On, but not very scientifically. +sj+ 22:19, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Translation[edit]

Upload form[edit]

Translation/New upload form needs a Polish version. Any help would be appreciated. +sj+

The new press release looks great in pl, thank you (: and thanks for your help with the newsletter, also...+sj+ 22:19, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)

previous Pl; press releases?[edit]

Actually, I meant to add: please add to the Press_release_log any notes about previous press releases from fr: that you can find, to help us distribute this release as effectively as possible. +sj+ 11:55, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)

wikiprojects on pl:[edit]

We also need comments on current pl: wikiprojects (image of the week, big projects like Tree of Life, education projects) under "Out of the Projects" in the Wikimedia newsletter. Be well, +sj+

De: translations[edit]

You might peek in on the de: version, which gets original content from time to time, and see how its sections on German events compare to en: and pl: .

"Polish Editor"[edit]

Each language should have an editor in its own language, to make sure that the result (once it has been fully translated) is readable:

  • The NL should be laid out in pages (and not one long page)
  • Each page should be reasonably laid-out (columns the same length, image captions suitably brief)
  • Interlang links b/t that edition and the others should work properly
  • Proofreaders should be found to make sure the final copy has no errors

You would be the obvious choice for pl: . Please leave a message on Talk:Wikimedia Newsletter if you are interested, or know someone who is. +sj+ 22:41, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Update: the first page has been updated significantly; please check the new original on En: (which has many fewer idioms) before continuing with the text you were working on. +sj+ 23:14, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Wikimedia meetup Central and Eastern Europe[edit]

Hi. I noticed you have been to visit Wikimedia meetup Central and Eastern Europe and nominated Warsaw. I'm wondering if you would like to participate in this event. If yes, list your name under the Participants section of that page, under the subsection Poland. Also, add more information about Warsaw and why it would be a good location for this event (advantages, facilities, disadvantages, etc). I have already started adding a list. Thanks, Ronline 09:15, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Wikipedia article[edit]

Hi Kpjas, a quick note before I forget: there will be an article about wikipedia in the next issue of http://www.linux-magazine.pl/ (not the one coming out now, but next month). It's translated via english from a german article, though. greetings, --Elian 23:36, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Wikimania translation[edit]

Hi Kpjas, thank you for your translations, including "under construction" messages. As I said before, we are seeking a trusted person who will be responsible for all Polish translation on the Wikimania site. Hopefully an adult, speaking Engish or German as well as Polish, and having a good humor sense ;-) If you are interested, would you like to list yourself on the list on meta? Cheers, --Aphaia | Translate Election | ++ 09:45, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Metoda czterech kroków wg Daniel Dana'y[edit]

Zaproponuj drugiej stronie rozmowę w taki sposób, by nie obawiała się tej rozmowy;
Zaproponuj też, by przeczytała ten tekst, jeżeli pozna tę metodę rozwiązywania konfliktów, późniejszy dialog powinien przebiegać w sposób bardziej korzystny dla Was obojga.
Każda ze stron przedstawia swój punkt widzenia danej sprawy;
Podczas dialogu żadna ze stron nie używa gróźb, oskarżeń ani nie stara się wygrać konfliktu na swoją korzyść;

Przypomnij zasady lub zaproponuj drugiej stronie, by w trakcie rozmowy miała wgląd w ten tekst; (Początkowo może wyglądać to trochę sztucznie, dobrze jednak nie wychodzić poza problem podczas rozmowy i nie stosować dygresji);
Przypomnij jeszcze raz, że spotkaliście się po to, żeby ze sobą nie walczyć;
Przedstaw problem i zaproponuj drugiej stronie, by przedstawiła swoją wizję danego problemu;
W trakcie dialogu utrzymuj aktywną wymianę informacji.
Unikaj dygresji na temat innych użytkowników Wikipedii lub osób spoza projektu;
Unikaj rozmów na temat nie związany z problemem;
Unikaj opowiadania dowcipów;
Staraj się unikać zbyt długich chwil ciszy;
Staraj się nie wyrażać postawy rezygnacji;
Ujawniaj gesty pojednawcze i zachęcaj do tego drugą stronę.
Nie powołuj się na słowa negacji, które pojawiły się w trakcie dialogu;
Potwierdzaj, że udało Ci się zauważyć gest zgody z drugiej strony;
Nie wykorzystuj przychylności drugiej strony dla swojej wygranej;
Opanuj siłę woli podczas ewentualnych ataków drugiej strony i nie odwzajemniaj ich;

Wikimania translations[edit]

Hi, I added your User name to EN-PL. Besides that you should subscribe to wikimaniatrans@yahoogroups.com - just send an empty message to wikimaniatrans-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - I can also do that for you if you send me your e-mail address (mine is: sabine_cretella@yahoo.it or s.cretella@wordsandmore.it). We use this list since there are many translators that just will send in the translated text since they don't know how to work with wikis and to avoid double work. This means when you see an article to be translated and you answer with "I am translating EN-PL" all other members of the group know that and so there will be no repeated jobs. We would like to avoid double work and this for now is the only way to go (also because there's not much time left for organisation). Thank you! Ciao! --Sabine 08:03, 30 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Polish articles in English wikipedia[edit]

Greetings Kpjas! There were 2 articles posted into the English wikipedia recently: en:Modest Romiszewski, en:Wegrzynowice. Perhaps the Polish wikipedia would want them also, and perhaps someone would be interested to expand these within the English wikipedia as well (I, mistakenly, contacted en:user:Piotrus and not you with my earlier requests for help with translation). wolność informacji vs wolność informacji wokoło hasła "marihuana"[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Devein

Since I see that you an Ambasador is Polska on Wikipedia,I wanted to ask you why is everything about Mr.Lepper and Samoobrona on Wikipedia Polska written so hostile,because I met President Lepper this summer and he seems like a really great guy,you know,so thats my question,why does people from Warsaw disslike him,while people in smaller places like (my spellin might be wrong:)) Gliwice or Katowice seems to like him.Etc. every Warsaw friend of mine that I showed my picture with President Lepper said:"Oh no,hes a fool",while everyone in Gliwice etc was delighted...

Thank you for your interest in Wikimedia Medicine. We hope to create a non profit corporation to promote the aims of the Wikimedia Movement within the topic domain of medicine. This means we plan to promote the creation and release of "health care information in all languages" under an open license. This will be done primarily via speaking and collaborating with both individuals and organizations who share our goal. We are working on a number of collaborations already and are open to more ideas. Help with Polish translations for WMF's multilingual fundraising campaign[edit]

Hi Kpjas, I hope you are well. I am reaching out to you as we would be in great need of your help to translate fundraising messages from English to Polish. We are planning to run fundraising messages on Polish Wikipedia during the first of second week of February. Would you be interested in helping us first of all, translate/proofread the three main texts that we need for the campaign? All texts and information on how to translate can be found on the Fundraising Translation Hub https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/Translation. Secondly, would you be interested in helping us developing a few short alternative messages in Polish that we can test live on the site during fundraising week? If so, could you please provide me with your email address and I will send you a short form to fill out. Thank you very much in advance. Kind regards, Jrobell (talk) 10:03, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Superprotect letter update[edit]

Hi Kpjas,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:15, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Superprotect status[edit]

Dear Kpjas, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.
